Ask Chatgtp. AI is really good at those tech questions.

No, they are probably not, it's more likely you seeing yourself reflected in others. It happens.

SUre, but flushing toilets, clinics and "European" style technology have more or less doubled life expectancy wherever we were not busy killing off indigenous people. Not aware of any other culture with that record. Grand Designs is on the telly, I'm off ....

Yes it is. But there's a context. Peasant and indigenous economies have been being obliterated worldwide for 200 years at least. Palestine is only the centre of the Judeo-Christian-Islamic world, similar problems have been and are being played out in Australasia the Americas and China.

Yes, but exactly WHAT would be worth a try? How can we get a concrete proposal anywhere near the table? "Activism" seems only to reinforce the divisions. One proposal (I confess I dont fully understand it) seems to be a federative arrangement - www.federation.org.il/index.php/en...
federation.org.il
The Federation Plan
The Federation Plan presents a new approach to the Jewish-Arab/Palestinian conflict. The plan calls for a transformation of Israel’s system of governance into a federal government, such as is found in...

Is a "No-lose" strategy. If they lose, that just PROVES how deep the conspiracy goes. Laughing at them also reinforces their certainty that everyone hates Jews. I have to admit my inner Venusian Lizard has a certain sneaky admiration for conspiracy thinking. It always has a cute irrefutable logic.

"Palesrael"?

I intended the "old" state of Mandate Palestine but with Home Rule through a single parliament. Yes, its an European imposition. So are flushing toilets & clinics. The institutionalised racism that a 2 state "solution" is would be investing in war. The very idea sends a chill down my spine.

I think you meant "they" have to pretend that? You confused me, I thought your "you" meant Annie .... I'll get my coat ...

Coho @alansloan.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Well said Annie. I hate the lazy "all ZIonism is the same thing" assumption, it's as much a blatant racism as saying saying "all Palestinians are terrorists". The simple biological generalisation is that all people are one species and subgroups are a human construction.

Racism is a tool of colonialism. I don't beleive the British Empire was fundamentally racist, but they (sorry, we) USED racism to legitimise the actions of our military. Its was about power and economic advantage. I think the same applies to the US, France & Israel.

Coho @alansloan.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
That's a sustainable argument but otoh a 7 million nuclear armed militarised population won't just disappear. They need a better offer than simply "Dissolve your government". The average Israeli thinks they'd all be murdered in their beds if that happened. Time for practical 1 State solution.

Eh? "Business as usual" isn't it? Bizarre that it's become normalised I guess ... Not sure how much more stupid a policy could be. British universities could work wonders with the NHS data and half competent British programmers could manage the IT side effectively. If not Indians are just as good.

Oh, the "expected energy". I had assumed that a neutrino had a predictable finite energy which didn't diminish over distance. So are there are slow and fast neutrinos? AI says yes there are! And the slowing is red-shift; so velocity can indicate distance travelled from origin? Is that right?

No idea about stats, cant grasp the theory. I assume small p values like that = very very high statistical probability. So what error would that "translate" into on an angular basis and how can it be pinned down to one even at such a physical and temporal distance? Wouldn't it <telescope errors?

You are literally referencing a "mad Bky Leftists & regime propaganda channel". Presumably expecting us to take what you are referencing seriously. If they are mad, why should we? Huh? Why not reference what you would consider to be a serious source if you want to make a point?

My dad was a Cambridge trained economist with a doubel first. I know enough about classical/orthodox economics to be bored by it. Maybe you can suggest a good heterodox book on global economics? AI suggests Capitalism: Competition, Conflict, Crises by Anwar Shaikh Do you approve of that?

The NHS is a nice juicy target, Big Tech won't be frightened off in the slightest. But it would make MUCH more sense to commission UK universities direct for research & admin development.

I think you're wrong. If you look at (say, its not the only show in town) the UN definition it captures all sorts of angles such as intention which are highly nuanced.

How on earth can that be determined? Surely there would be massive error margins in working back from a single neutrino to a supposed origin.

Nope, its someone with a deeper understading of economics that that clown Rees-Mogg. He's a businessman, not an economist. And he looks clever to the unititiated but he's just an educated fool. The "economy" is more than GDP. It includes capital and resources. The UK has £ but no oil or minerals.
110 1
Coho @alansloan.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Er ... no, they are not. They are capital. Gdp is turnover. GDP is a metric of production, not wealth or the size of an economy, unless you think an economy is only the amount of business done. I don't think that is the case because most value added activity isn't even monetised.

RM dos not seem to know that things like oilfields, steelworks, agricultural land, education and military are part of the economy. All he uses is GDP - which can be exapanded by tycoons renting the same Mayfair flats back and forth to each other charging fees on each trnsaction. An artifice.

Any fairly intelligent high shool junior wil be able to see Carlson is right - things like oilfields, steelworks, agricultural land, education and military are the economy. All RM uses is GDP - which can be inflated by tycoons churning assets with fees on each transaction. An artifice for arses.

Any *actual* Green policies - banning private cars, mandating bicycles, goverenment issue fleeces to combat hypothermia casued by 25 degree heating limit on homes, doubling price of everything to fund re-use and recycling .... Would be regarded as a joke and unelectable. So why bother anyway?

No other way to counter the "Anti-Zionism is antisemtism" narrative except head on. We saw what they did to Corbyn who foolishly skirted around it. Don't misunderstand me - I bitterly wish this wasn't happening, and in some senses AM a Zionist, but the current Israeli "Zionist" regime IS racist.

I'm at the other end of the tech-ability spectrum but I also find it incredibly useful as a fact checker and search engine. Some confirmation bias issues so I'm vigilant there, and the occasional hallucination but that seems less common now. I did ask it to create an app ... but it returned code!

AI gave me what seems to be a pretty good answer to my question about controlled trials. (No, its too expensive and complicated but teaching methods generally are crowdsourced and field tested there is a decent body of theory as well.)

Wow, I wish I could get into a time machine and show that to the 12-14 year old me. I wonder if I would have tunred out differently! Do teaching materials nd narratives like that ever get tested and assessed statistically (as in applied to controlled groups for comparisons)?

Architecture has alwasy been closely interlinked with technology; the emergence of CAD was as significant as cheap glass was in the 1830s. What AI has to add to this has yet to be seen - Chat gtp seems to imply that it is a tool rather than a creator but it might become be a little more than that.

Thanks for formalising it. My budding math career came to a sudden 60 years ago around the time theyintroduced me to i, the square root of -1. I was very sad that I couldnt handle the abstraction. As a matter of interst, how would you describe i to a 14 year old?

Ok. Let O be Outward Let R= Return Let D = Difference And T = Journey time. T+D = 6 So T=6-D T-D = 2 So T= 2+D Therefore as T=T, 6-D=2+D, Therefore D = 4.
