Of the three Halloween mixes that I made this year, this one of the most genre-specific. Unlike the other two, it also doesn't contain samples from horror movies. All of these sounds were from records produced during this period. bsky.app/profile/alan...

I also put out this 15+ hour mix of Halloween sounds from 1976 this year, as part of the 'Year of the Deir' series. Both this and the 2026 mix contain samples from horror movies released during their respective years. bsky.app/profile/alan...

☞︎HALLOWEEN HARRUMPH '26 (6+ hrs) Boo! Sorry about that. That was probably terrifying for you to read. I don't normally start these things off with a jump-scare, but it seemed appropriate given this mix is all about All Hallows' Eve. All tunes are from 2026. ☞︎☞︎☞︎DROPBOX LINK: bit.ly/halloweenhar...

Also, Hila Klein has the cold, dead, sunken eyes of a psychopath. She never smiles with her eyes, which always look like she hasn't slept in weeks. She is deeply unsettling to behold.

It is staggering to see how much of an absolute POS that Ethan Klein is. Why does anyone like pure assholes like this? Why is he coughing constantly? Who could ever listen to this staggering putz for any length of time, let alone enjoy it? youtu.be/FcIP6qQZ9mc

Yeah, no shit the reactions are mixed. There is a massive difference between Zionism and Judaism. Conflating the two concepts is, in fact, antisemitism. Criticism of the country of Israel is not criticism of Judaism. There are many jews who are anti-Zionist. www.narcity.com/how-ottawa-i...

It's shit like this why, whenever Trump finally goes, that the damage he caused will never be repaired. Once you sell all that stuff, it's gone. Replacing it will cost way more money, they won't be the same pianos, and they will never try to do it anyway.

Oddly enough, some of them were proven right because the writers literally stole their ideas. 'Time travel? Man, that makes way more sense than what we were thinking. They still all died and this is a purgatory/dream kinda thing, though, right?"

☞︎XMAS XANADU '90-'05 (8 hrs) Many of these songs are not directly about Christmas, while a few tracks here aren't strictly of the big beat, trip-hop, illbient, turntablism variety, but whatevs... Xmas is a time for giving, so give me a break, will ya?! ☞︎☞︎☞︎DROPBOX LINK: bit.ly/xmasxanadu90

☞︎Haunted Haus '90-'05 (10 hrs) It's the most wonderful time of the year... Well, perhaps it isn't fright night tonight, but it always is in my heart. This mix blends illbient dnb, trip-hop, big beat, and turntablism which all has that certain spooky quality. ☞︎☞︎☞︎DROPBOX LINK: bit.ly/HauntedHaus1...

☞︎Turntablist Hip-Hop '90-'05 (10 hrs) The art of scratching was born on the wheels of steel, real wax destroyed on turntables for your listening enjoyment. ☞︎ILLBIENT DNB '90-'05 (11 hrs) This loose 5-part, 11-hour survey of drum and bass that was produced between 1990-2005, generally made by trip-hop artists who don’t primarily make DnB. Not strictly illbient, per se, but a vibe from the golden age of sampling. ☞︎☞︎☞︎DROPBOX LINK: bit.ly/illbient1990

☞︎BIG BEAT TAPE '90-'05 (17+ hrs) As someone who has seen Go, Human Traffic, and 24 Hour Party People many times, this mix is basically the music that made me want to be a critic. RIYL: Chem Bros, Propellerheads, Lionrock, Fatboy Slim, Pepe Deluxé, Ursula 1000, etc. ☞︎DROPBOX LINK: bit.ly/bigbeat90

This is music for people who watch the 'Pulp Fiction' knock-off raver film 'Go' every Xmas. Or for people who saw Groove Armada live at Tribal Gathering in Manchester, in the same warehouse where they shot '24 Hour Party People.' Or for people who got the original UK version of 'Human Traffic' because you saw that 'Jerry Springer' had been dubbed in, and you wanted to hear the original reference, which made no difference as you have never seen 'Richard & Judy' before, hence the chance for the North American version. If you like those movies and their soundtracks, you'll dig the vibe and recognize a few songs here. May the beat go on.

Just found out who she was. It was a weird feeling to spend days crying over someone I knew absolutely nothing about. At least I now know she was loved and cherished. She was younger and prettier than I am, and had good taste in music. I left a dozen purple mums down in the parking lot for her. #RIP

Victim Services got back to me this morning. They were nice. Prolly gonna get some counselling. I've had my fair share of problems with the police over the years, being one of those "power corrupts" kinda jobs, but my opinions have softened lately. They do have a really tough job. I couldn't do it.

Thanks. I'm so sorry for whoever that poor woman was. Feels so strange to cry about someone I know absolutely nothing about. I couldn't cry at my dad's funeral, but the tears keep coming for her. I never would've thought something like this would hit me so hard.

Even though they cleaned up the blood, there was still a bunch of flies feasting on whatever was stuck in the cracks this morning. Nature sure doesn't waste time or resources. This afternoon, someone put some flowers on the parking lot wall near where she landed. My whole building seems affected.

I gave a cops a statement, and they gave me a card with the number. Just did a hockey draft, and stepped out to grab a burrito, but I'll prolly call when I get home. The cops are still there. Looks like she fell from suite 1003. I'm in 502. The sound I heard must've been her clipping my balcony.

Coroner is just loading up the body now. They put a tent over her while I was doing a fantasy hockey draft. The draft was a nice distraction.
