If Canada did become the 51st US state, the House, Senate, and Electoral College would all start to lean Democrat. Two take-aways from this thought: 1) Democrats will probably tacitly support the annexation of Canada. 2) Trump will suspend elections after the annexation.

So, the United States federal government does have a ridiculously huge annual deficit, currently around $1.8 trillion a year. But the culprit isn’t too many government workers or science grants. The culprit is a ridiculously huge military budget and high health care costs.
