Thanks. I’ll just wait and see what happens. It does breach their standards as it’s a second account. If it gets booted I think I can set up a second profile on my main account or post anon where needed. Assuming they don’t boot that too! They didn’t have the anon option when I started it.

Here is your friendly reminder to back up any social media data you might want to keep. I just got sent to Facebook death row. No warning, just bam locked out. Now waiting on my appeal, if unsuccessful my profile is gone. I was midway through typing a message too. So rude!

I reckon they have a magic 8 ball to choose their reason. On those motorised blinds I got pretty much every one on my rejections x 2. They even made up their own non legal reasons and contradicted themselves. So ridiculous. Luckily I got a sensible planner last time and asked again and was funded.

They tried that on me a while ago for an item. I’ve since read the McGarrigle federal court ruling where they interpreted reasonable family & carer support as referring to practical assistance i.e. labour not the provision of financial assistance.

They always word things may, generally etc because that gives them an out and they won’t always find such things for example it’s not R&N or it’s not for your accepted impairment. NDIS definitely isn’t running well but the wording there is not the issue.

The birthday cake gst answer was a key moment that lost Hewson an election, perhaps the egg price debate question will similarly be Dutton’s downfall? Maybe Howard because he’s the only PM to be voted in for consecutive terms in recent history so will albo do a Howard in this election?

Tomorrow I’ll reach the 190 week mark in my #NDIS home mods saga. It was meant to be a one week job finished 15/3/25. Will it be finished this week as promised? I can but hope.

I’m one of the lucky ones who had great drs in my corner and I could grasp what was needed from them so I got access. The process though (incl a rejection first time) made me a lot sicker. If it had been simple I’d have gotten access a year earlier and not gotten so severe which costs ndis more.

I’d also like to see a civil suit against RACP or practitioners who have made people worse through GET. We are probably all too exhausted to do that though. I’m severe now because of physio, not for GET but exercise to fix an injury causing repeated crashes & they kept pushing me.

Probably because the word ‘scooter’ is in the vehicle list but that’s standard bikes and scooters. Not mobility scooters. Didn’t they bother to check the In list? Or deploy a tiny bit of common sense?

Welcome to NDIS where you jump when they say jump. You do need referral for service so they can claim so that’s important. Same with support coordinator. OT you don’t but get on wait lists asap. I picked SC randomly so my first plan wasn’t delayed. Then sacked them a few weeks later.

The NDIA spent thirty-seven MILLION fighting disabled people & their families in court to stop us getting supports in 2023-2024. In 2019-2021 they apparently lost 76% of cases at the then AAT. So much for that 'waste clock' and demonising the disabled. www.righttoknow.org.au/request/ndia...

I’d much rather fly Virgin than Jetstar but looks like neither are an option for me to get to Sunshine coast again. My chair exceeds size&weight for Jetstar. Virgin has same plane & dimensions as qantas BUT it has a weight limit which my chair exceeds. I don’t think I’m up for that battle.

Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 19/12/2024
Was this with a wheelchair assist booking or without? I assume 2 max policy? I flew Virgin once narrow body plane where they’d booked 6 wc assist passengers. Mild panic from staff but we all got to where we were going. I don’t see why they can’t handle more than 2 regularly.

I’m similar level of function. I got rejected first go for ndis. Aged care weren’t keen to help, locally they’d never heard of early access to aged care gone care packages even though a lot of us access it. They were going to apply for some other funding I’d never heard of for me instead.

Having support once medicos is the big challenge. With telehealth there’s some more options for specialists now if you were wanting to try again. DG and AF may have knowledge of programs you don’t know about and won’t find on the web yourself. Worth a try.

I don’t know SA options. Disability Gateway may be able to help with info and referral. My Aged care should refer you to Ability First if at risk of entering nursing home. They are meant to help with access or other support to avoid RAC.
Screenshot from ndis website. It reads
“Ability First Australia Pathway (for younger people who are not NDIS participants)
If you are not an NDIS participant:

If you are under 65 and at risk of entering residential aged care, contact Ability First Australia (A F A) on 1800 771 663.
You can also contact My Aged Care (MAC) contact centre on 1800 200 422 and MAC will refer you to A F A.
NDIS eligibility:

A F A can help you to test your NDIS eligibility if appropriate.
If you become eligible for the NDIS, an NDIS officer will help you (follow NDIS participant pathway from the planning meeting step).
Exploring options:

If you are not eligible for the NDIS, A F A will help you explore accommodation and care support options in your preferred area.”

The reform has been predetermined with minor tweaking around the edges to make it look like they “co-designed” & a media strategy to demonise disabled people to justify it. So I think many see little point in continuing to seek positive change.
010
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
We have to do progress reports for cb supports. This is much more accountability than the taxpayers expect for Medicare claims. I actually find the amount of info ndia requires about me & the many many unqualified people who will read it a major privacy violation.
010
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
Or maintain function. I think we should be able to determine the best way to help ourselves within our cb budget though. I have no trouble with dodgy therapy like crystal healing being banned but we are talking highly skilled qualified therapists & modalities here. They should be an option.
110
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
That’s what has been required for all. People have flexible cb funding so once the funding is in plan they may choose to use art therapy instead of psych or music alongside speech. This change removes the flexibility and I’m expecting they’ll make it much harder to get approved than others
100
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 27/11/2024
That should be the case for all therapy but they aren’t telling us we can’t use a physio or EP gym program without explicit approval & that they can only bill as a support worker without it. It’s really disrespectful which then brings the question of how is this claimable if activities now aren’t?
210
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
Good point. I’m not sure. Considering they are saying they think it doesn’t build capacity I assumed they meant in core. Yet you can’t claim activities from core. So what is this? Therapy or activity? 🤔
100
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
They are going to give us fixed “reasonable & necessary budgets” rather than funding r&n supports individually which will give them full control of costs so the only effect I see of all these unnecessary rules is restricting choice and control to use the supports that work best for you.
010
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
Which should be the case for all therapies. I’m not sure why they’ve singled these out other than maybe people might enjoy them and we can’t have that now, can we?
110
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
And they must be ndis registered. By February. Also keep in mind baby kids don’t get core funding.
100
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
Considering they have masters degrees I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be funded in line with other ndis funded therapies. Psych requires 6 years to qualify and gets funded at higher rates. A physio only needs a 4 year degree.
120
Alacka Spooner @alacka.bsky.social · 26/11/2024
I’m sure there’s self interest in there but all the other NDIS therapies are funded at that rate. Except psych which is higher. Music and art therapists have masters degrees.
