My favorite joke in this game was when someone mentioned they had to pay for a coworkers grave, because they were the 'closest relative'. But then you find out they weren't related: “I thought you said you were his closest relative?” “Yeah, I was relatively closest to him when he died”

I really like their 'Dude Ranch' album. It's not the greatest album or anything, but it just feels like they are having fun, being themselves, and writing about things they care about. The album feels like being 18, for all its glory and blemishes.

I would love to see a good movie on Einstein. If you haven't checked out 'the bastard brigade' about US trying to keep Nuclear knowledge and supplies out of Nazi hands (with secret agent scientists!) there's a dozen stories in there that could all be movies.

I was visiting my parents one year and my brother's old GameCube was plugged in. I played Sunshine for much longer than I would have guessed. Not top-tier Mario, but even meh-Mario is still better than like 80% of games on the market.

As someone who tries to find charts all the time (but don't use AI) I have noticed that all of the good charts are leaving the free internet and becoming put behind paywalls, malicious download screens, social media groups etc with a original in low-res form (etc)

My son loved the first two Hitchhikers Guide book. He's reading a lot of YA right now, but I'm hoping to open to harder Scifi/Horror/fantasy in the near future.

I wouldn't say just vanity, but also a belief in personal power and personal reliance that seems very in tune with libertarian political beliefs, and MAHA health.

As someone who has had to transition from mostly running to mostly weights (bad knees), the political divide between runners and lifters is pretty massive. I have theories that explain this, but I would love to see someone who knows multiple athletic groups write a longer article.

Just realized, I forgot Velvetta (which is basically like liquid American cheese) and is classified as a 'pasteurized cheese product' and nacho cheese, which is basically a dip made from either American and/or Cheddar with spices.

al-chemist0.bsky.social @al-chemist0.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
In case it isn't clear, I have a strong dislike for American cheese. It just always tastes like wax to me. I end up eating it fairly often on long camping trips where it's easy to pack, but if I had my way I would never eat American (or velvetta) again.

al-chemist0.bsky.social @al-chemist0.bsky.social · 01/09/2026
Haven't heard of? I have no idea. But if I had to go with other American cheeses, I would probably say monterey jack, pepper jack (which is just Monterey Jack with hot peppers), (and after consulting the internet) Colby.

al-chemist0.bsky.social @al-chemist0.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
They're easy for cheeseburgers. But good? No, literally any other cheese you can buy would taste better.

al-chemist0.bsky.social @al-chemist0.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
I always thought American cheese was the perfect example of American food. It's cheap, overly processed and has almost no nutritional value or flavor. Most countries won't even sell it (due to regulations) but it's become a staple of the American diet. Nothing is more American.

I think a lot of these games have stolen the 'organization' of the open-world without being zelda-like (Assasins Creed comes to mind). But 'Tunic',& 'Fenyx Rising', strikes me as pretty obvious zelda clones.

Alot of this stuff reminds me of the "Cancelled discussion" in which the 'cancelation' is rarely the result of 'woke' and almost always related to very specific events or arguments that are probably unique to each family and are not accurately remembered by at least one of the two parties.

If we compare Utah and Hawaii (states where it's still illegal). to states with the highest # of gambling addicts; Utah is #50, Hawaii is #46. Probably difficult to change legality, but should be HIGHLY regulated (into oblivion)

I loved Final Fantasy as a kid. As an adult, I can't stand Turn based games (note: not referring to Tactics-style). I'm sure there are good games that I've missed, but I can't get past my instant repulsion of split heroes/villains screen.

I did that for the 2000 election, and my ballot showed up on the day it was required to be postmarked. So, I had to really quickly put my research paper aside and do as much research on the candidates as possible. The quality of the internet at that time made it really difficult.

I've come to realize that I love exploring them more than dying in them. I love finding a new area (anor londo, ringed city, forbidden woods) and then getting just far enough to explore a new area, find a new treasure, open a new switchback. But I don't like them as much when linear.

That's less difficult (in person) as I spend 45 - 90minutes basically staring at their hands. If I can see their hands, ok. If they keep looking at them under their desks or keep trying to shove their phone in their pocket, I give a warning. 2nd time, I take the test away.

While I'm ok with pants (I have a bunch of very light pants for Summer) I also have really nice sandals purchased for this time of year. But my office just instituted a no sandal policy (not formal enough). I'm tempted to just put on a pair of pumps and see how management responds.

Every 90 days I need a new work password. Verification was sent to my personal email. To re-verify my email, it sent a signal to my authenticator. Authenticator then sent a message to my cell phone. Which had an error, so I had to go down to HR and work backwards. Took me 30 minutes to start work.

I played MGS2, and after 45 minutes of mind-numbing political conversation, I fought a boss and died, and had to restart in the middle of the conversation with about 10 min left to go. Never touched it again. I played Death Stranding recently and it wasn't that bad, I mostly ignored the dialogue

Going back to my original playthrough of PS1 RE, my favorite part of RE games were always feeling overwhelmed, and trying to stretch my resources to get by (similar to Night of the LD). Always found Wesker or the 10M alligator less interesting.

I thought the idea was that this was just a day. A really awful day for all involved (and worse for some than others) but an idea of how it feels to be in a life/death situation with personal baggage that shouldn't be there (but can't be separated). And for some, that one day changes who they are.

I am both a scientist and an academic. As a scientist, it has potential in programming, predictions and monitoring huge amounts of data quickly. Good! As an academic, I can no longer properly evaluate my students. Is this a student's thoughtful answer or a machine's probability guess?🤷‍♀️That's bad.
