Okay, well I’m going to say it publicly for the first time: Does either endpoint have WhatsApp’s cloud messages backup feature turned on? Which cloud service? Does he consent for the devices to be sent to NCSC for technical recovery of the deleted messages? If not, what has he got to hide?

A codec where you can progressively decode truncated frames just fine with reduced quality; so you don’t need multiple bitrates, you can literally just chop the frame data short. JPEG and JXL has a progressive mode like that; I believe Vorbis I works too (neither brilliantly, but it works).

But what if (hear me out here), you (heuristically) rapidly find likely boundaries of metadata blocks and Ogg/Matroska/MPEG frames, and run Sakura/BLAKE3 tree hash slicing off that? Dedup files with differing metadata without padding? Even better with a peelable codec…

As we can all see from the replies, there’s only one reasonable interpretation. The only questions are whether you use a MOD player or Farbrausch V2 for the keygen’s sick music, and if we’re still doing scrolltexts in 2025.

Soundcloud wanted to change its Terms of Service so it could train AI on the music uploaded there. I don't agree to that, so I’ve delisted all my music from Soundcloud. (You can still find it basically everywhere else.) Amazing how you can just kill a site in one sentence like that.

idgi, didn’t Moxie do something for them before OWS? I guess that they didn’t have time to ever get it working, and like you said, if the Elongated Muskrat demanded a Minimum Viable Product in an unrealistic timescale… you’re gonna ship the first, worst draft whether it’s a good idea or not. 🤔
