Family is traveling in New Zealand. Today we saw these enormous eels that live in fresh water until they are about 80 years old, then swim thousands of miles to spawn (the currents bring the larva back). This one was at least 4 feet long. The world is a strange and wonderful place.

To be clear—ENSTAR doesn’t need RCA approval to build the thing. They are asking for a guarantee that they will be allowed to pass the costs on to ratepayers afterwards. Their own parent company, TriSummit, won’t give them the necessary capital without such a guarantee. Not usual RCA practice.

Oh, they are still going to connect to GVEA. But GVEA doesn’t have the generation capacity, so they are saying the mine would have to pay to add new generation. Which still leaves the question of fuel to run that generation.
