Probably nothing to worry about for homeowners unless there are a bunch of other devices taking images in your home and making that data available for sale. Good thing no one would do that.

Is it any surprise? Abusers and rapists who think everything is owed to them usually don't understand the concept of consent very well

Gotcha. Sounds like an ISBN isn't much of a protection/bar of entry if they are allotted willy nilly without any check for frauds or unauthorized copies

On mobile rn so ability to investigate is limited but I wonder how easy it is to get ISBNs - if applicable at all for ebooks

Copycats suck. While I don't believe yours to be amazon, for something digital only (re Kindle books above) I could totally see them cutting the author off. They have the datacenters and compute (aws), it would be easy to feing ignorance, take "action" only to prop a new fake author.

The reason oligarchs going all in with AI is not for the good of the middle class. It is to devalue work, to kill our economic mobility and independence and to further expand the inequality gap, all while the US is systematically cracking down on the low paid immigrant labor.

Capitalism rewards sociopathic behavior with promotions and wealth. And for some inexplicable reason people worship the wealthy, as if they were not the terrible human beings they are.

I’m glad more people are pointing this out. I talked about it it a few weeks ago w/ @janus.bsky.social Companies are attempting a sleight of hand where they capture data but argue because of how it’s processed it’s not “recording” and is thus private. They are still surveillance devices!

We can’t just change the definition of ‘recording’
Soon, asking “Does this device have a camera?” won’t be good enough.

It’s not that data brokers and social media companies haven’t been building profiles on people for ages, but it’s worth noting how they are now trying to normalize this by touting it as a benefit rather than the creepy and invasive function that it is.

it's a marketing ploy, a ruse. It's an attempt to make their tech appear inoffensive, cute and trustworthy. It's manipulation.

Pen, watercolor, black & white charcoal pencil.

Another featured piece from the Spooky Pants book.

A man in a sweater stands with his hands on his hips looking out of a large window with the curtains open. Things aren’t looking good outside, reader. A massive winged demon is emerging from the clouds as dozens of little ghosts and bone demons rip through the sky. On the ground below we see townsfolk running through the grass. Our man in the window is in no mood for this. He lets us know, “Oh, I am in no mood for this.” His dog looks out the window as well, wagging its tail.

Fantasia (1940) inspired drawing. I think I could’ve gone a little heavier with the chaos outside but we’ll try again with fresh drawings this October. I like how the clouds turned out. Trying to balance my sloppy lines with more detail can be tricky but I think we achieved a good result.

Funny how billionaires and mega corps really really really want datacenters to happen despite everyone saying "No" Because billionaires and corps are widely known to want what's good for us and not, you know, their own bottom line and nothing else Good, keep up the fight. Screw them fuck their AI.
