Happy #FieldworkFriday! We maintain seismic stations at several of Alyeska's Trans Alaska Pipeline System pumpstations. This week the field team upgraded the data digitizer (which makes data ready to transmit) at station PS08 and performed "shake tests" to ensure it would alert Alyeska's systems.

What’s Shaking Alaska?! We’re often asked if the Earthquake Center is able to detect large earthquakes from around the world, and the answer is yes! When a large seismic event occurs, the seismic waves often travel over most of the globe. Listen to how this affects our Alaska: buff.ly/tbPANqt
The title is “What's Shaking Alaska?!” and the text reads “Week of August 26-September 2, 2026”. A map of Alaska in the background shows dots where earthquakes occurred. Other text reads “About 630 earthquakes were detected, and 2 earthquakes reported felt.” A circle with an arrow pointing to it is labeled “The largest was a magnitude 5.2 earthquake on August 21, south of Nikolski.”
