10/10 Please feel free to add on to stories of Thrudgelmir (Norse) mythos because I could only find the one poem (Vafþrúðnismál) + correct me if I'm mistaken for my CN bc I'm absolutely horrible at it

000

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

9/?? So what can we deduce from this? Thrudgelmir has siblings (Norse Mythology), we know Capitano saw his family die in Khaenri'ah soooo haha um. Fun(?) fact: Norse myth Thrudgelmir drowned in Ymir's blood - idk how this will help, might be a death flag for Captain...(?)

110

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

8/?? Thrudgelmir is thought to be the six-headed frost giant (could also be other male offspring) formed from Ymir's feet, who then fathered Bergelmir, father of frost giants. TLDR: Thrudgelmir: son of Ymir, father to Bergelmir (frost giants' ancestor)

100

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

7/?? Ymir is the ancestor of the jötnar, his blood became seas, his flesh the Earth, etc, after killed by Odin, Vili, and Ve, who fashioned the earth from his remains. He has three children, an unnamed son and daughter (from armpits), and Thrudgelmir. (re: poem Vafþrúðnismál)

100

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

6/?? So who/what exactly is Thrudgelmir? þrúðgelmir [Old Norse for strength yeller] (IPA is ['eru:ð.jelmır]) is a jötunn (p jötnar) (beings contrasted to the Norse Gods, can be translated to giants!) To talk about Thrudgelmir, we need to talk about his Father, Ymir/ Aurgelmir

100

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

5/?? For KR, he uses '스라' which is romanized as 'seura' like when you say Thrudgelmir in KR! It's also why I am 99% sure he is NOT Thor, although that will be very cool thank you It's also why I'm 79% sure his name is Thrudgelmir and now we'll get into myths regarding him.

100

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

4/?? For CN, I am not the best so please correct me for any mistakes here, but he uses '瑟', which makes the 'sè' sound, and I am BETTING that it will make up Thrudgelmir but in CN.

100

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

3/?? In JP he uses 'ス' now why is this familiar. スルーズゲルミル is Thrudgelmir in JP. Thor on the other hand is トール

100

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

2/?? In EN, he goes "th-" but voiced it sounds like "thra/thru-" So Capimain Discord suggested Thrudgelmir. Thrudgelmir is a jotunn that I'll go into later, rn we'll talk abt why it's Thrudgelmir and not Thor

100

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

1/?? We know he is called Sentinel Knight (5.2 quest), and that he nearly says his name (nerd ily) when asked But how are we sure? I thought it was just him breathing silly as usual (so i checked other languages)

100

clem | capitano's right hand @akdioa.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

okay so GENSHIN 5.2 spoilers🧵 Capitano's Name. (with help frm Capitano Mains Discord + letting me yap abt language usage)
