Akameli | COMMS OPEN @akameli.bsky.social · 16/09/2026my tradition for the past few years was to pick apples, and make an apple pie for my friends... </3 though i suppose it's more a northeast thing? i'm down for like peaches or pumpkins, anything as long as i'm out in the autumn air with a cutesy thing i can take home 020
Akameli | COMMS OPEN @akameli.bsky.social · 16/09/2026i loveee apple picking that's my thing!! apple picking and local cider donuts with the beautiful changing trees all around is what autumn is all about! the only ones i can find near my new place don't offer picking but you can buy the apples?? that ruins the whole whimsy of tasting as you hike! 110

Akameli | COMMS OPEN @akameli.bsky.social · 26/08/2026film didn't delve into his story nearly as much.. he's less of a dimwit + exposes more feelings of jealousy and shame. But the film def hits all the right notes of melancholy/apathy?elegance. The film was the most wonderful adaptation possible - I think the author worked on it, so it makes sense :-) 100
Akameli | COMMS OPEN @akameli.bsky.social · 26/08/2026Very similar, or even more elegant than the film (looking at you, tied to a tree scene). I understood Prince Lír to be more innocently/unknowingly harmful in the book, while the film read more like he was aware/complacent/encouraging in Amalthea's transition. The most change was to Schmendrick, the+ 100
Akameli | COMMS OPEN @akameli.bsky.social · 26/08/2026I also read The Last Unicorn last week and enjoyed it... I think recently, I've been reading a lot of stories centered on how to handle the death of girlhood/childhood, and finding a lot of melancholic comfort in them 180
Akameli | COMMS OPEN @akameli.bsky.social · 26/08/2026I finished reading The Book of Merlyn, and I really enjoyed it. Maybe not for all the reasons T.H. White intended, but I liked it, especially Arthur and others' angst that he would never be Wart again. Everything else just felt like noise to his stage of acceptance in grief 190
