What do I see?! Two procedures actually acomplished with zero issues this fine morning? Burocracy working great for me for once im my life? This is unheard of, I might need to buy a lottery ticket or something because this is wild. It's either a sign that miracles exists or the apocalypse is near.

Ok. So the initial frustration passed but now fear has taken its place. I should confess that Im a total chicken when it comes to medical procedures and pain. So now Im SCARED. Is it an extreme procedure? No. Should I be this scared about it? Probably no. Am I still going to cry about it? Absolutely

Well, fuck me. Finally had my appointment with an orthodontist to see what can be done for my overbite, bruxism and other TMJ issues. I went fully expecting braces in my near future, which will happen, buuuut I need a couple of extractions first. I wasn't expecting that. I don't want to lose teeth 😭

Last time he stayed put, completely focused on the movie for almost an hour. Thats the longest I have seen him focused on a single task. And today my sister in law told me during the week my nephew asked for Totoro for the first time. Phase one of operation "Ghibli tornado" is completed.

So, since my nephew was born I decided that my duty as his aunt was to make him a Ghibli kid. The last few times I have babysit my little tornado I've put on Totoro for him, he was hooked from the start and each time he sat longer and longer watching the movie.

So... I have a cold and its totally kicking my butt, but the anti-inflammatory I'm taking for my throat also took my cramps away, so I'm having a completely pain-free period for the first time in over a decade. My pain has never been incapacitating, but no pain at all? I'll take it. This is heaven.

And another bag (denim, also in great condition after a little care) that mom informed me used to be grandpa's errand bag. I can't even explain what I feel when I see their craftsmanship (grandma also helped him make them pretty often). I'm proud of their work. I'm ecstatic to care for it now.

And now I get to use it again. The same bag she used to take everywhere 20+ years ago, the same bag grandpa made for her. Now is my turn to care for it. Hopefully it will accompany me for another 20+ years. I also got to keep a few coin purses and wallets, all grandpa-made, all grandma-used.

And it worked! It looks so much better, the smell of humidity is gone, the leather feels softer, and it shines again. Grandma took very good care of it because it has very few scratches, even the lining is in perfect condition.

BUT! I'm nothing but stubborn and sentimental, so after my mom told me to keep it if I wanted it I made it my mission to try to save it. Got the appropriate products and tools and proceeded to spend hours giving that bag all the love and care grandma couldn't give it in her last years.

Then she fell ill and said handbag spent the next decade inside a closet accumulating dust and humidity. After she passed my mom discovered the long forgotten bag still inside the closet, unfortunately a little over a decade of neglect did not suit the bag at all.

I'm so happy! My grandpa was a leatherworker most of his life. Of course, he made several things for my grandma who passed them along to her children when age caught up to her after grandpa passed. She only kept a few select items, including her own personal handbag made specially for her.

Grieving is hard! And weird! It's been almost three weeks and I've been doing ok. Sad but at peace, calm. And suddenly today I spent a good hour crying my eyes out in the middle of my workday, fortunately I work from home so no witnesses. I needed that good cry though, I feel so much better now.
