16 October 1943 | Raid of the Ghetto of Rome. 365 German security & police forces sealed off the area of the ghetto. 1,024 Jewish men, women, and children were arrested. Two days later they were deported to #Auschwitz. Only 16 of them survived the war.

On this day in 1923, a Czech Jewish man was born. On the 16 Nov 1942 he was deported from Tábor to Theresienstadt and on the 28 Sep 1944 to Auschwitz. He perished in Apr 1945 at Litoměřice, where prisoners dug tunnels for an underground factory. His name was Jiří Meisl
