Credit where it's due: the introduction of the 988 hotline for self-harm issues under then-FCC Chairman Ajit Pai's leadership led to a 11% decline in death by suicide compared to what was expected—4372 fewer suicides over 2.5 years. The states where 988 was called most had the biggest declines. 1/2
