I wonder if the Voyager astrometric lab was initially envisioned as more of a 3D holographic generator that one could move around rather than the large, curved screen effect we ultimately saw.

Trump is a POS and even his followers know it in their hearts to be true. That’s why they get so angry. They’re in conflict with themselves, truth & decency. If protestors didn’t speak the Truth then Trumpers wouldn’t act triggered & unhinged. They live in fear & anger. It’s their common thread.

Thanks Seán for your analysis and advocacy. In the absence of official Star Trek I’ll be creating my own Trek-inspired stories to share with fans (hopefully) in time. Perhaps at some point Star Trek will engage with fans more directly on the kinds of stories we hope to enjoy. See you “Out There!”

My fan-fiction focuses on Captain John G. Glaav and the 45-member crew of the U.S.S. Vortex NCC-973 and their diminutive, “Sparrow” Class starship which I imagine was flying around during the time of Kirk and Spock or just prior.

The crew is mostly non-human and many are the only member of their people in Starfleet.

I’m working on an introductory, rough draft with framework for several more “episodes”.

I wrote & cartooned in college for a campus satire magazine but since then all I’ve written are historic context stuff & non-fiction “community” news. Writing a 1st draft of a sci-fi novel. It’s the most difficult project I’ve attempted. I suspect every writer’s “path” is as unique as their voice?

There’s something comforting and nostalgic about sharing a table, meal, drinks & conversation with friends. In my TOS fan-fiction the starship features a combination officer’s mess & conference room with a long booth where senior staff share dinner (and a bottle of alien wine, sometimes).

The U.S.S. Vortex is a fan-made “Sparrow” class starship in the style of Star Trek: The Original Series. It has four decks and a crew of forty-five.

On the left is a compartment off the Command Corridor on deck one that is outfitted with a long booth that serves as both a senior officer’s mess hall and a conference or briefing room.

On the right is the senior officer’s workspace which serves as a flexible-use space.

My grade school once had “cargo nets” like you see in movies with soldiers training on base. Kids were permitted ti climb up thick rope nets that must’ve been 30 feet tall or more with no safety harnesses. As you can guess, a kid fell from them and the cargo nets went away pretty quickly.

A concrete, finish layer for tactile ground surface indicator (TGSI) systems can help folks navigate a dwelling. One idea is imprint a shallow “channel” (like a little river or monorail) that runs down the center of walks indicating paths, turns, doors & features. Applied with big, rubber stamps!

Been considering the potential benefits to a poured, concrete foundation and how tactile ground surface indicator (TGSI) systems can help folks navigate a private or rental dwelling.

One idea is to apply a finish layer of concrete with a shallow “channel” like a little river or monorail that runs down the center of walkways. Sorta like an imprinted “circuit board” pattern.

Stops and lines indicate a doorway.

Intersections and arcs could be created with large, rubber “stamps”.

The system might be useful for the visually impaired by use of a cane or by feeling through the sole of their feet.

Could also help a wheelchair navigate a dwelling by use of camera or “guide-wheel” or computer-assisted means.

A scale version of the house floor-plan and walkways that is mounted on a wall or table might be created to include Braille notations on the dwelling as well as allowing for a tactical (scaled-down) exploration and familiarization of the dwelling including the unuque tactile ground surface indicators (TGSI)
