I also think we need to have some uncomfortable conversations about the USWNT system and how it’s starting to falter when the rest of the world starts investing

This season of Ted Lasso could have been so much more if they just leaned into the women’s team and the players more

I think this season of Ted Lasso has been a wild mixed bag, but I do love Alice Chilton tremendously.

That was an awful last 10 minutes to watch I’m sorry

Do not understand this trend of playing sports other than baseball in baseball stadiums. Legitimately what did people think would happen when INDOOR volleyball was played outdoors

Absolutely stoked for the Canadian Women’s Team qualifying for the Olympics in Indoor Volleyball for the first time in 32 years. They’ve been delightful to watch play and this has been so deserved after a dominant year

Is it really a Corner Kick presented by Dexcom if the announcer doesn’t say it’s a Corner Kick presented by Dexcom

Clue is a perfect, perfect movie and I need to rewatch it immediately.

Also don’t forget that Reign results arent worth coverage in mainstream media (no I’m not salty about the consistent exclusion from FullTime reports, why would I be?)

I agree the episode was an excellent advert for KC Current but that cannot be their ace

This episode of Ted Lasso serving as an add for KC Current has me laughing and crying

There's a lot to say about the Odyssey and the all the choices Nolan made, but I'm not really in the mood for a big debate so I'll just say I find it's amusing that over hundreds of years of paintings and adaptations no one's ever been able to agree on what firing an arrow "through" 12 axes means.

The art and animation are incredible. I wish the story rose up to the same level. I don’t think this movie adds anything meaningful to the world of the Avatar and if you’re hungry for more Avatar content, go read the books and the graphic novels instead

The Fire Nation council was another great scene. If only the movie had been able to address the very valid criticisms of Zuko’s position to back it up some more

My favorite moment of the film is when the Gang is just being the Gang while waiting for Tagah to wake up. The Denied were also compelling antagonists, I wish we’d spent more time getting to know them

(I’m also generally disappointed at spirit world Toph’s handling because for a second there I was so excited to know if Toph could see in the spirit world and how she’d react to that)

Aishma Raghu @aishmaraghu.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

I wish the movie treated the Avatar Gang better. Sokka’s overused as a comic relief with 0 maturity; Toph’s just there to be thirsty; and Tagah v the gang came off less as “Tagah is incredibly powerful” and more as the gang being nerfed for plot reasons

I also like the more Hindu and Buddhist cultural inspirations for Sonam and the Air Nomad city. Freida Pinto as VA is a nice touch too

I like that the movie ties into the graphic novels and treats it as required reading though I recognize folks who haven’t read them might feel differently

100

Aishma Raghu @aishmaraghu.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

The movie relies heavily on the nostalgia; it’s not really an Easter egg when the movie is literally screaming at you to look at the cabbages in the secret tunnel

100

Aishma Raghu @aishmaraghu.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

I think this movie suffers from the same problems a lot of anime movies do where they have to prioritize the spectacle and take the simplest possible plot to tell a tight but grand story in 90 minutes

Gonna ignore all the sea adventure movie discourse and talk about another movie I watched this weekend: Avatar Aang

I’m also gobsmacked at the number of people who have taken this review as grounds for personally attacking Wilson’s character or moral standing. Like it’s a personal failure on her part to have not “understood” the film

010

Aishma Raghu @aishmaraghu.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

My general takeaway is that classicists are mostly unhappy with the movie and everyone else and nobody can seem to handle that because they thought this movie was neat.

010

Aishma Raghu @aishmaraghu.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

I watched the movie this weekend and have been down the rabbit hole of Wilson’s critique and honestly, I think way too many people are worked up about what she thinks of the movie. She clearly wanted something different from the movie and that’s fine. I think she’s spot on with some of her critique

I’m gonna be real fam, I was at the Wave Reign game but most of it didn’t register because it was too hot. 2pm game in July in San Diego during Comic con weekend is cruel. Having this be the pride celebration was an especially ironic cruelty
