Main interest is Scottish independence. For: Liberty, equality, inclusivity, sociability. Against: British establishment, monarchy, class system, fptp electoral system, political patronage, Lords. I'd rather be a European citizen than a British subject.

Quite neatly sums up the arrogance, utter contempt and disregard Westminster has for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, their leaders and people.

The Scottish public should be seriously concerned that Westminster supports and indulges foreign interference in Scottish elections when it furthers Westminsters political position.

Of course, a written constitution would have to gain approval in Westminster and would be subject to a UK wide referendum, both of which would be defined and won by the superior English voting numbers. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Bloke wins a by-election somewhere near Wigan and denies the legitimacy of the 73-56 pro-Independence Holyrood majority as voted for by 2.3million Scots. And they wonder why there is growing disillusionment with politics.

Why would WM not agree to a referendum if whatever the 'braver' action may be would lead to independence? I think our best way forward is Scotland, NI and Wales persuading England each nation has the sole right to determine it's own constitution.

In terms of the EU, Scotland would be exactly mid-sized (14th out of 28) and 4th largest when marine EEZ is included.

Airtteth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @airtteth.bsky.social · 13/06/2026
a) an independant Scotland would not be "a tiny nation". In terms of population and landmass, it would be a mid sized nation (about 117th out of 195 world-wide), and actually quite big (50th) If you include marine EEZ. b) you think our voice is heard now?

It's my own observation that these "MSM win"s are getting less and less impactful amongst the Scottish electorate thanks largely to the efforts of the likes of yourself, MSM monitor, TalkingupScotland, etc. It's a sair fecht, as they say, but I think the rate of progress is accelerating.

I admire your optimism and don't want to rain on your parade, but I'm not sure what this would achieve. MSM will just ignore it and platform anyone claiming they donated and want their money back. Who has the burden of proof on whether they donated or not?

Hands up all those who thought the Sewel convention being "enshrined in law", as promised, meant WM could never again legislate or overrule/veto HR on devolved matters. Should've read the small print Shmucks. Powers devolved is power retained. The term 'Perfidious Albion' was coined for a reason.

Airtteth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @airtteth.bsky.social · 12/05/2026
This whole 'my mandate is bigger than your mandate' argument is a smokescreen. Both WM & HR operate a representative democracy - what can be voted through is all that counts. Does WM care about mandates?Does anyone think Reform will give a flying fcuk for mandates if/when they get in?

This will pose an interesting quandary for Sarwar- does he back Swinney or Offord? I can foresee labours Bain principle being severely tested in the comming weeks and months.

Airtteth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @airtteth.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
That is immaterial. Both WM & HR operate a representative democracy. It's unfortunate and undemocratic that WM imposes theirs over HRs and use circular logic to justify it (ie 'we won't let you ask the question until you prove the answer is yes'). See:- Petitio Principii, Meno’s Paradox or Catch 22.

Airtteth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @airtteth.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
Seriously? They're now going to agree a SNP majority is a valid mandate for indyref2 ? How many Greens would need to 'defect' to SNP to make it happen ?
010
Airtteth 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 @airtteth.bsky.social · 08/05/2026
What's the significance of SNP not gaining a majority? No one agreed it would be a mandate for indyref2. Unless, of course WM et al now retrospectively agrees that an SNP majority would have been, and therefore is indeed, an acceptable mandate. In which case 1 or 2 by-elections/defections....

The best possible pro-Indy election result relies (imho) not only on SNP supporters voting SGreens on the list, but on SGreens voting SNP on the constituency (where they can). Hopefully this back scratching will actually happen, otherwise Reform is likely to profit. #SNP1SGP2

For me, the film was a bit of a disappointment. I read the book about a year ago which I thoroughly enjoyed and was really looking forward to the film. The film was OK, but the story line was so compressed with so much detail left out.

Don't know what you mean about unfairly quoting original post. As far as I know I just replied to your post. Regarding benefits of minimum alcohol pricing, suggest you look at Public Health Scotland (PHS), the University of Glasgow, and The Lancet for evidence. Or, again, ask Gemini to find it.
