Yeah, flare ups are always such a roll of the dice. I have other medical issues that can make it worse, but it's always trying to figure out which one came first. Also, I saw your post about masking. They should be fine with it for outpatient. Inpatient might not let you due to their rules.

ADHD and autism. The emotional deregulation/impulse control (adhd) mixed with rejection sensitivity (autism) creates a very wildly fluctuating emotional scale, especially during stressful situations or flare ups of medical issues. I wish you luck with it!

Here's some snippets from an old unfinished WIP of pre-VG Orph and his obsessive tendencies while being exposed to the outside world. Before being exiled from the Necropolis, he had never left outside of the City or tombs. #datv #dragonage #wip

“Ugh! How thick can mud get?!” Orpheus’ upset tone echoed throughout the disgusting bog that the trio were trudging within; steps behind Varric and Harding as they moved in the ominous fog filled region.

There was so much dreadful vile rotten mud.

"Never ending", Orph would swear once they hit the third hour of making little progress through the sludge. He was done with it. It wasn’t like he’d never stepped in muck before, but this had a noxious putrid smell of rot and sulfur throughout the humid air. Tasting it on the back of their tongues with each breath. He tried using techniques he was taught of for working with bodies in the Necropolis by stuffing some healing balm into his nose. Made with mint and Elfroot, he prayed it would keep the smell away. It helped just enough to keep him from being sick, but that hours ago and the herbal protection had started to fade back into rot. Slowly creeping into his sinuses with each deep inhale.

It burned his lungs as he huffed and wheezed while trying to free himself from a particular sticky spot, thigh deep. He could hear snickers from Harding as she looked back at him. Eyes sparkling and crinkling, which made Orph pause his struggle; cheeks inflamed to a bright red. With his attention off of his struggle, he slipped forward barely able to catch himself with his hands, instantly sinking down into it. His blue eyes caught her hazel green ones again after Varric helped pull him out, making her smile.

How were these Dwarves doing this?

It was as if the two were walking on water instead of sinking down into the mud with him. Varric noticed the disdain on Orph’s face and clapped his hand against his back, almost tossing him face first into it again.

“Don’t fret it, Flowers. You’re just going to stink of it for a few days”, the older Dwarf snorted out. That signature smirk on his face that Orph’s come to expect with some snarky reply.

“Ha ha”

“I swear you act more like some of those Orlesian nobles than a Nevarran. You sure you’re not from there?”

Orph’s nose wrinkled up as if it was the most insulting thing he’d heard in awhile, “Ugh, no. Nevarran heart and soul. We just have standards and manners, Varric. Heard of personal hygiene?”

That got a sharp laugh out of Harding, who was letting the two men sass each other back and forth. Orph grinned at that, only to stop when Varric raised his brow at him.

“Standards or arrogance?”

Orph scowled at that statement. He could get dirty. It didn’t bother him to do the mortuary work back in the Necropolis; medical work, autopsy, and embalming. But…he always wore his thick leather gloves. It was standard practice to be clean. There were rules and reasons for why they did what they did and how they handled themselves. Only the utmost respect for the dead in their profession he told himself.

Orph paused in the middle of the path; glancing down at his leather gloved hands. Scuffed all to ruin from the climbing, grabbing, and running they'd been doing all these months. Strings starting to fray at the seams between his long fingers. The thought of them being gone made his skin itch and sweat build up in his robes, more than just from the exertion of fighting the dirt.

Maybe, he was a little more obsessive than his other Mortalitasi. Maybe— it was almost suffocatingly running through his mind every day when he was exposed to elements without his leathers on. Maybe. He’d be lying to himself if he couldn’t acknowledge that he was currently living his worst nightmare with all the grime at the moment. He missed the more sophisticated side of his job. The arts, the flower arrangements, the poetry. Not this. Not traveling for weeks hunting a ghostly whisper of a god.

- with the splints in. I have a phobia of suffocation so it worried me a lot. It's not fun to have them removed, but it's quick and you'll feel amazing and breathe in 4D for the first time in your life. Recovery isn't linear it can take months to get back to a baseline. It was rough, but worth it.

Uh, like how tiring it is. I mean it is surgery, but they like to say it's an easy one since it's outpatient. The pain was more than I expected. You might get sick due to drainage, but it's normal. Sleeping upright is important. No matter what you'll be okay, and you'll still be able to breathe-

In terms of characters, Orpheus has contamination type OCD. He has phobias and obsessions around touch, but it only involve people. He's fine with dirt/outside to a degree. You'll always see me drawing him with his leather gloves on, except when sleep, bathing, or intimacy.

LRP. OCD Awareness Month. I don't talk about my OCD much, but it's there. It impacts my life heavily. I used to have an official diagnosis and tested very high on the scale, but the last place said I already had a lot of labels and they didn't want to make it worse. 😂 Cool. Doesn't erase it. Thx.

It's also hard to type and talk during them. So if my wording is ever really weird or I messed up a phrase that's why. Migraines turn your brain into mush. Google Hemiplegic migraines if you want to know what mine are. Also have vestibular and abdominal ones as well.

Slowly working on OC-tober along with plans to get RookLace week done too. It'll just be behind, but that's okay. I talk about being chronically ill vaguely, but if you want specifics I have migraines of various types 17-20 days of the month. The rest of the days are headache days. No rest.
