Visit to the Citizens Theatre tonight for its first production post-refurb - #smallactsoflove. A musical about the Lockerbie disaster sounds like a strange project, but it worked. Very good. And the building is looking splendid.

Just read Summerwater by Sarah Moss. What a great writer. The style & format are perfectly suited to the unfolding story. Brilliant inner monologues over a range of characters. And the depiction of a wet Scottish lochside holiday is atmospheric, with a dark & growing sense of foreboding #summerwater

Mike Leigh’s film Hard Truths is a hard watch. It’s desperate, uncomfortable and heart-breaking. Yet with flashes of humour and wit. Outstanding performances from Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Michele Austin. Still thinking about it 3 days later. Highly recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
