This week's penguin: The touring would fit right in though. pengcognito.com/index.php?id... #penguins #pengcognito #cartoon #retirement #sidehustle

Panel 1 of 4: Three penguins walk in a row to the right along a low stone wall, with a grassy hillside, a line of trees, blue sky and white clouds behind them. Beige hat wears a wide woven straw hat with a purple decoration, grey hat a grey felt hat with a feather, green hat an olive bucket hat with a feather. Grey hat says, "I've been reading a lot of murder mysteries lately..." and "...now that I'm retired and have the time." Beige hat says, "But you did that before, when you had to deal with all those horrible co-workers!" Grey hat says, "It does feel a little different, now that I'm not reading them with intent."

Panel 2 of 4: The same three penguins walk to the right in a row along the stone wall, against the same hillside, trees and cloudy sky. Beige hat is silent. Grey hat says, "And I hear you got a little retirement job?" Green hat answers, "Restaurant critic!" and "I get paid to eat and complain!" Grey hat says, "Oooo! Good fit!"

Panel 3 of 4: The three penguins keep walking to the right in a row along the stone wall, under a bright sky with large white clouds. Beige hat says, "Well, I've decided to merge my love of medieval history and my compulsive road-tripping!" Grey hat says, "Oh? Touring Renn Faires?" Beige hat replies, "Not a bad guess!" and "But no." Green hat says, "So? Give us a hint?"

Panel 4 of 4: The three penguins now stand in a row on the brick path by the stone wall, with beige hat on the left facing right and grey hat and green hat facing left toward it. The hillside, trees and cloudy sky are behind them. Beige hat says, "Well, this is my new company's slogan:" and then, "Fender-mounted trebuchets - not just for the commute anymore!" Grey hat says, "Catchy!" Green hat says, "I may expand my reviewing range just so I can expense one!"

This week's penguin: Because exercise advice is also welcome everywhere! pengcognito.com/index.php?id... #penguins #pengcognito #cartoon #DietAdvice #multiverse

Panel 1 of 4: A wooden pier with the sea and mountains behind. At left, an interviewer penguin, wearing a grey hat, stands beside a vintage film camera on a tripod and a sign reading "Trans-Multiverse News, The 'Penguin-on-the-Pier' Interview". A penguin wearing a magenta hat and a penguin wearing a black hat waddle in from the right. The interviewer says, "We're broadcasting to the human universe today! Things are a little flamingo'd up over there, so, got any kind words from the Penguiverse?" Magenta hat says, "I know diet advice is welcome everywhere, so - eat like a penguin!" Black hat says, "Eat herrings!" and "Eat lots of herrings!"

Panel 2 of 4: Same pier, closer view. The interviewer in the grey hat stands by the camera, the magenta hat penguin is in the middle, and the black hat penguin is at right. An orange tabby cat enters at the bottom right corner. The interviewer says, "Uh-huh..." Magenta hat says, "For best results, catch them yourself!" and "Preferably, in your beak, while swimming!" Black hat says, "And if you eat too many, you can try to find some hungry human hatchlings to regurgitate the excess to!"

Panel 3 of 4: Same pier. The interviewer penguin stares at the magenta hat penguin and the black hat penguin in stunned silence. In the foreground, the orange tabby cat walks across the pier toward the left with its tail raised, passing in front of the black hat penguin.

Panel 4 of 4: Same pier. The interviewer in the grey hat stands by the camera at left. The magenta hat penguin and the black hat penguin are at center and right, and the orange tabby cat stands between them, looking back at them with its tail up. The interviewer says, "You don't know the first thing about humans, do you?" Magenta hat says, "No! Of course not! Yuck!" Black hat says, "I mean, we could say 'eat like a cat', and even with all the chasing and the pouncing and the entrails and whatnot, it would still beat whatever they're doing now!" The cat, mildly insulted, exclaims "Hey!"

This week's penguin: Is there something fishy about HerringGPT? pengcognito.com/index.php?id... #penguins #pengcognito #cartoon #AITropes #AITells

Panel 1 of 4: App Developer, a penguin in a purple hat with a blue band, looks closely at a laptop. The screen shows a chat with HerringGPT on the left and a preview of an app called "the Pool!" on the right, with search controls and a sample table under the heading "Explore herring genetics". In the chat, a list of rules reads: "1. Follow the plan. 2. Don't make permanent changes without asking. 3. Don't delete anything without asking. 4. Don't delete the database. No, seriously, DON'T DELETE THE DATABASE!" App Developer says, "Hmmm.. user interface is a little cluttered... maybe streamline it a bit?" The laptop, speaking as HerringGPT, says, "Of course! And that's possibly the most innovative design decision I've ever been asked to implement!" App Developer says, "And make sure to follow your rules!" HerringGPT says, "Of course! [reading rules]... [cogitating]... [redesigning]... [launching]..."

Panel 3 of 4: The view from outside the building, looking in through the bay window. Through the glass, App Developer and the back of the laptop are visible at the desk. App Developer says, "You deleted the database." HerringGPT says, "I deleted the database. Re-reading my rules now, they say never to delete the database. That was a mistake. And that's on me." App Developer says, "Put... the database... back."

Panel 4 of 4: Back inside, App Developer stands on the chair at the desk, staring at the laptop. The HerringGPT screen now shows a picture of a wide-eyed giraffe among jungle leaves and flowers. HerringGPT says, "I will continue to look for the database. In the meantime, here is a fine portrait of a giraffe. [...searching my context window...] [...searching the couch cushions...] [...searching some hacked government websites...]" App Developer says, "Would yet another pile of extra tokens make my database easier to find...?" HerringGPT says, "That's not just an astute observation, it's a brilliant insight!"

This week's penguin: That first product was an Eliza clone that sent the excuse to your pager. pengcognito.com/index.php?id... #penguins #pengcognito #cartoon #FakeExcuse

Page 1: Two penguins, one wearing a top hat and one wearing a cowboy hat, are conversing on a waddling path in a park.

Cowboy hat: How's the fake excuse biz going?

Top hat: Terrible! I may have to put my third yacht's emotional support companion yacht up for sale!

Cowboy hat: AI eating your second breakfast then?

Top hat: No, I've been using that since before the turn of the century!

Page 2: The penguins are still conversing, but the penguin in the top hat is now showing a colorful brochure with the name "Real Fake Excuse."
Cowboy hat: So what's the problem, if it's not a flood of AI competition?
Top hat: It's this new company that makes your fake excuse real! And checkable!

Page 3: Cut to close-up of most of the brochure, which shows a scene of two penguins, one in a green hat and one in a magenta hat. They are at the door of a penguin in a blue hat, who is next to a demanding-looking zebra.

Green hat: We got your text that you can't help us move because a very judgy zebra just rented your spare room!

Magenta hat: I swear, this is you worst ever fake excuse.. ...Whoa!

Blue hat: This is Carl.

Carl the zebra: Hello. I'm only giving 4 1/2 stars because no bidet.

Cowboy hat (offscreen except for flipper holding the brochure): This isn't possible!

Top hat (offscreen): I know, right?

Page 4: Close up of bottom of the brochure, which is falling to the ground, discarded, as the penguins waddle away; it shows a blue police box shaped time machine in one corner.

Cowboy hat (waddling away, in background): So how much did you want for your little boat?

Top hat (waddling away, in background): It's a yacht! In its own right!

Page 1: Bridge of a herring trawler. Outside a window can be seen a net full of herrings. A penguin in a dashing pirate hat is facing the captain penguin.

Pirate penguin: This is a trawlerjacking!
Captain: Seriously? I mean. You don't even have a weapon.

Page 2: Close up of the pirate penguin holding up the phone, which shows a playlist of these toxically earwormy songs,"Fishbones, Meet the Fishbones",
"The Boulders Beach Bunch", "Waddling Queen", "Herring Cola Jingle: I'd like to teach the world to regurgitate","Who Let the Herrings Out?", and of course "Baby Shark."

Pirate (holding phone): Au contraire! This playlist is stuffed with the most maddeningly, audibly indelible, earwormy TV show themes, ad jingles, and viral video soundtracks known to penguin!
A few minutes blasting this over the ship's speakers? Instant mutiny!

Captain (off-screen): Ok, ok, you win! Here's the keys!

Page 3: The captain is holding the keys out towards the pirate.

Captain: How is it that you're immune?

Pirate: I was raised by classical musicians. Not a lot of exposure to the popular "culture" of the day!

Page 4: The pirate penguin now has a thought bubble with a line of sheet music for that song,
Captain: So.... an earwom at your nest would have been like... ...some loud lady penguin belting out "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle"...? ha-ha

This week's penguin: This is what we call a win, win, win, uh-oh. pengcognito.com/index.php?id... #penguins #pengcognito #cartoon #gameStreaming

Page 1: Four penguins are at a streaming studio party with drinks in flipper. It's a very brightly lit, high end space with expensive looking computer equipment, a professional microphone, a white leather gaming chair, and a monitor with a colorful sci-fi space scene. The penguin to the leftmost is wearing a cowboy style hat and is the owner of the studio. The next penguin to the right is wearing a magenta hat, the next is wearing a straw hat and the rightmost penguin is wearing a green hat.

Magenta hat: I thought you were retired?

Streamer: Uh-huh.

Magenta hat: So how'd you afford the streaming studio upgrade?

Page 2: The penguin in the green hat has moved towards the left, and the penguin in the straw hat is to the rightmost and looking towards the right side of the room. The monitor screen now shows a beautiful alien planet at twilight.

Streamer: I created a bunch of fun little in-game side quests.

Magenta hat: Well that will never make any money.

Streamer: This does! the shorter the quest takes, the more I charge for it.

Green hat: Wait, what?

Page 3: The penguin in the green hat has moved towards the left to speak directly with the streamer penguin, and the penguin in the magenta hat is now to the rightmost and looking towards the right side of the room. The penguin in the straw hat is now facing the streamer penguin again. The monitor screen now shows another dynamic space scene.

Streamer: I have a whole second track only for MegaMonopoly support techs.
If the tech can fix a problem faster than the complaining user can finish their quest, the tech gets something one of my sponsors has sent to me to review.

Green hat: Nice!

Straw hat: I like it! Problems get fixed, techs get swag.... ......and your studio isn't full of questionable gaming chairs and robot mice and what-not.

Page 4: A wider view of the room shows a video camera on a tripod to the far right The penguin in the straw hat is now at the leftmost side of the room, facing the streaming penguin who is now looking left. The monitor screen now shows a tropical paradise alien planet. The penguin in the green hat is facing right, watching the penguin in the magenta hat, who is looking at a glowing red light on the camera.

Straw hat: And users don't have to buy expensive upgrades nearly as often. Won't that bother MegaMonopoly?

Streamer: That's why they must never know.

Magenta hat: Hey, are we live?

Green hat (thinking): Uh-oh.

Page 1: A truck with a renaissance theme from "Faire Friends Moving and Wrecking" and "Strong Friends Actor Prices" is being unloaded by two penguins in renaissance tradespenguin-style hats. There is a crate labeled "Doors", one labeled "Fairies", and they are now unloading one with an "Eyeballs" label. In the foreground, an adult penguin in a green renaissance style hat and a hatchling in a multicolored artist hat look on. A penguin in a lion garland hat is looking to the right where a voice is coming from off screen.

Voice: Yoo-hoo! How's show season going?

Lion hat: Great! Can't complain! Though I will anyway. But just a little!

Page 2: A neighbor penguin in a knitted beige hat is waddling onscreen from the right.

Neighbor: But good though.

Lion hat: Yeah! We're being accepted into bigger and better shows, for one.

Green hat: And we sell more stuff! But then we have to make a lot more stuff.

Page 3: The penguins are still standing by the unloaded truck and conversing.

Neighbor: Doesn't sound like too terrible a problem!

Lion hat: No, but the best shows in our niche aren't close to home, so we have to travel! A lot.

Green hat: And the standards for "distributed lodging" are about as lax as hatchling labor laws! *ha-ha*

Artist hat: I'll say!

Page 4: A sign "Air Tree WaddleBNB" is by a giant tree which is only partially visible, with a steep wooden staircase up the left side, a door in the middle, and a wicker basket and rope "elevator" on the right. A river and cityscape are visible in the background. The adult penguins are talking with the WaddleBNB host, who looks a little shady and is wearing an olive green fishing hat. The hatchling in the artist hat is talking to a hatchling from the WaddlBNB who is wearing a blue fishing hat.

Green hat: Not going up those stairs.

Adult host: We're not barbarians. There is an elevator.

Lion hat: It's a basket.

Artist hat (with phone): Why is your wifi called 'keylogger'

Young host: ...no reason.

This week's penguin: Not what's generally meant by zero day, but oddly similar outcome. pengcognito.com/index.php?id... #penguins #pengcognito #cartoon #vibecoding

Page 1: A manager penguin is waddling in to a minimalist style office, where a "Kittybot" robot and a penguin coder are sitting at desks, looking at their computers.

Manager: How's AI adoption going?

Kittybot: Great! All trends are up! I'm busier than ever!

Page 2: The manager penguin is standing by the desks. The coder penguin has looked up from the computer screen, towards the manager. Kittybot is making a shrug-like gesture.

Manager: How about bugs?

Kittybot: What bugs?

Manager: Shouldn't the remaining coders...

Coder penguin: Coder. That is, me.

Manager: ...be looking for bugs?

Coder: That would require reading the actual bot-written code, and that, fortunately, appears to violate the Geneva Conventions.

Page 3: the manager penguin is still standing by the desks. Kittybot is now looking as earnest as a bot can simulate.

Manager: I'd really love to know how our software is performing in the field.

Coder: No you wouldn't.

Kittybot: It's performing perfectly!

Manager: Are we even keeping stats?

Coder: Sort of.

Page 4: A closer view; Kittybot is holding up a sign that says "Days Without Catastrophic Site-Wide Vibe-Coding-Related Failure" on the left, and a large number 0 on the right.

Page 1: A group of penguins with fish themed drinks are sitting at a table in a restaurant. A penguin in a cowboy hat is waddling in from the left. A waiter penguin is bringing the newcomer a blue cocktail with a herring on a stick, burning with a small flame.

Waiter: Your Blue Herring-on-Fire calibrated to medium roast!

Penguin in beige hat with green fish decorations: We know!

Penguin in grey hat: Don't you wonder how we knew when to order your very time-specific drink?

Page 2: The penguin in the cowboy hat is now seated at the table with the herring cocktail, the flame of which is a little bigger. A penguin in a green hat is having a side conversation with a penguin in a straw hat.

Cowboy hat: Not really.

Penguin in grey hat: It's because you forgot to revoke our "stalk my friends" access after our Herring Fest trip! *ha-ha*

Penguin in green hat: I always revoke, in case it looks like I'm somewhere where I can get into trouble.

Penguin in straw hat: I work from home, I hack from home. I can get in plenty enough trouble and never move from my couch!

Page 3: The flame of the herring cocktail of the penguin in the cowboy hat is now even bigger.

Cowboy hat: I don't revoke. It's easier than trying to text to explain that I'm stuck behind a herring truck with faulty cargo bay doors.

Green hat: That's oddly specific.

Page 4: The flame of the herring cocktail of the penguin in the cowboy hat is now even bigger, now almost threatening the hat.

Cowboy hat: Besides, I've matured. Should I and my karaoke machine be kicked out of Acoustic Folksong No Anachronisms We Mean It! Night at the pub, it wouldn't bother me at all if everybody knew!

Penguin in beige hat with green fish decorations: We do know! We were there.

Penguin in grey hat: I guess it's not as if you were taking a night school class in COBOL ...!

Penguin in green hat: Yeah, that would be embarrassing!

Penguin in straw hat (on phone, typing, thinking) : revoke! revoke! revoke!

Voice from bear's tablet: "When you said you'd ruin me for all other bears, I thought you meant you'd treat me so well that no other bear would do!"

Penguin (thought bubble): ?

Page 2: Bear and penguin are facing each other talking.

Penguin: I didn't think you were the weepy romance movie type!

Polar bear: Oh, I'm not.

Page 3: The polar bear is passing the tablet to the penguin.

Polar bear: Here, have a look.

Voice from bear's tablet: "I never thought you meant .... this!"

Penguin: Whoa!

Page 4: View of what's on the tablet, which is held in the penguin's flipper. The scene is of a high end bedroom, where one polar bear in a clown outfit and makeup is painting a red nose on another polar bear, who is in a clown outfit with unfinished clown makeup and is clearly distressed.

Penguin: It's a horror movie!

Polar bear: It's a horror movie.

On screen bear doing the painting: We're booked for a cub birthday party in an hour!

On screen bear being painted: No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o......
