I tend to agree with you. IMO bro (in New Zealand) grew from Maori usage to more mainstream. Cuzz or Cuzzy is now more akin to the original usage of bro in NZ.

Just read your thread. The team and fans should hold their heads high! (I’m a New Zealander of Tongan descent who follows NZ and Tonga in Rugby and rugby league as well as the Warriors league team so I have learnt a bit about the highs and lows)

I think I've managed to set my car up so that ChargeNet chargers recognise it without the need for a fob ... but I haven't used a public charger since I set that up so I haven't proven it ... 😅

I spend a fair bit of time under the water too. It’s so good for stepping away from day to day stuff and just being in the moment

We spot stingrays and other fish in the marina quite often

TBF the sea is my happy place (see a lot of my posting history for evidence). Even walking around the marina or along a beach soothes me (and being on the water is even better )

* their thing (hate it when I make that sort of mistake). Here’s the other stingray - looks like it’s a bit scarred.

Then went to Matakatia for a look too

It’s been quite a day on the work front so we went to the marina and dropped some stuff off at the boat then went for a walk. Spotted a couple of Stingrays doing there thing.

I haven’t done much research but it feels like we (NZ) are well behind on the micro ev front.

Well, I've got a passing interest in that too. 😀I don't post much about rugby (other than spamming when my nephew was playing for Spain U20 at the JWC a couple of months ago - I'm a proud uncle)

I’m in NZ so watched the Wallabies vs. All Blacks live. We don’t get much Top 14 here - I’m hoping to see my nephew playing Top 14 in a few years. He signed an Espoirs under 21 contract with LOU a few months ago (and turned 18 last week)

Then follow up with New Zealand vs. Australia from the weekend.

Almost! They can be parked like motorcycles… end on to the curb.

Yep! 😂 the marketing line is trying to get people used to just plugging in for a few hours regularly (ala cell phone charging habits) rather than weekly (although that USED to be all I had to do back in the day for my Ericsson … )

Spotted some interesting vehicles while wandering around Europe last month. Apparently the M-ero Microlino “charges like a cell phone” … plug it in for 4 hrs to get to recharge …

^^^ this. We happily paid bed taxes during our month long trip round France, Spain and Italy (and Singapore).

I reckon the best viewing spots are on the Hammerhead or Matakatia Beach (if you cannot get onboard a private boat). Have a look at the satellite view and you’ll get an idea of how close things will be. maps.app.goo.gl/21tBnqwXLew3...
Course map showing where the Start/Finish line is. 😂 look for a white Rayglass 4000 launch with the chequered flag on the S/F line coz that’ll probably be me.
000
Tony Hafoka Ao NZ TON @ahafoka.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Yep! There will be only 3 or 4 boats inside the course, I’ll be one of them. The view at the rolling start is good as they all come flying towards the S/F line when the marshal boat drops its flag and gets out of the way. I helped last year so have a bit more of an idea of what to expect this time

I use ABRP and the Nav app in my car. (The car Nav app connects to the New Zealand database of chargers and does a good job of route and charge stop calculations)

While power boat racing isn’t my thing I’ve agreed to help out. It looks like my boat will be anchored on the start/finish line by Kotanui with the lap scorers and the Chequered Flag on board.

Gulf Harbour boat ramp and the southern side of Whangaparaoa Peninsula will host the Offshore Power Boats next Saturday 17 October. There will be good viewing from shore - especially on the Hammerhead as the course goes INSIDE Kotanui Is. / Frenchman’s Cap …

Yeah, 30 hr trips aren’t fun at all. We did 36 hrs from hotel to home last week. Rome-Istanbul-Hong Kong-Auckland.

That’s good news. I’ve had detached retina and it’s no fun! If anyone suspects their retina is detaching then they should go get it looked at straight away (they can be operated on successfully but it needs to be done quickly)

~129 taskings this year. This is down from 157 the year before but that’s not a bad thing. (Yes, we do like helping folks/doing stuff but if this number gets closer to zero then people are having MUCH better days)

Some stats for the year: - 3,500 crew hours on the water (doesn’t include fundraising, land based training, committee time, maintenance etc.) - 40 “wet crew” - The boats launched 160 times (training and taskings) - Helped 289 people get home (plus one search & recovery)

The unit is chock full of excellent people doing great stuff. Some have now been at it for many years so several 10 and 15 year pins were handed out - as well as a life membership to one of the skippers! All volunteers were presented with a commemorative coin for International Volunteer Year

We had the AGM for Coastguard Hibiscus, elected a new unit President, gave out service awards and more. I’d forgotten that I’d ticked over 5 yrs so it was a surprise to receive the certificate and chevron pin (I’ll have to stick at it for another 5 yrs if I want another)
Yours truly standing in the middle holding a certificate. I’m flanked by the Unit Support manager from CNZ on the left and out new President and Crew Chief on the right Red chevron 5 yr pin on my jacket. The “Coastguard” pin above is for 3 years

Coincidentally, I spent some time chatting to our work marketing people before I went on holiday - I had quietly mentioned one American thing in some material aimed at an NZ and Au audience and they got very keen on me reviewing the whole pack to get it more aligned to the target audience.

Capitalising “City Hall” doesn’t sit well with me when referring to things in NZ as that’s not what it’s called here.

I laughed when I saw these two posts adjacent to each other on the #kikorangi feed ... Thanks for the chuckle @jenster.bsky.social and @dilaedathon.bsky.social
Two adjacent posts ... first is about "Man steals bus - but TAKES UNSUSPECTING PASSENGERS WHERE THEY WANT TO GO. Also, sex toys nicked “still in their packaging”. I love Waiheke police reports"

and the second is:
(Im)patiently waiting for the NZ post van to turn up 'cause a parcel is due for delivery today but the tracking hasn't been updated at all

That would smash the horrible early morning drive to the airport out of the park! I’d be a passenger if I was still doing Akl-Wgtn trips as much as I used to. (Now all my domestic work trips are Akl to Hamilton or Christchurch… )

Yeah, we were in Singapore, France, Spain and Italy recently and the milk was pretty much all UHT rather than fresh - that changes the taste. (And then there’s the American powdered creamer … )
