Sharing my newest open-access article, where I compared some new neutron activation analysis (NAA) data of Puerto Rican ceramics to previously studied ceramics in Puerto Rico, eastern Dominican Republic, and St. Croix! Also attached another pie chart figure! www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Map of Puerto Rico with four sites highlighted, including pie charts at the location of each site. The pie charts break down identified imports versus local ceramics identified within each assemblage. Arrows were also added as an indicator of exchange along general directions, ie south, with line thickness related to intensity of movement.

My feed is overwhelmed with scientists right now calling out the catastrophic consequences of the NIH indirect cost order from last night. If those same people aren't also speaking out against the anti-trans, anti-DEI, anti-immigrant orders...we are lost. The only path forward is solidarity.

Y’all they cancelled the NSF MPS Ascend Program after encouraging underrepresented folks to only apply to it and not both the Ascend and the MSPRF. This is astronomically fucked up for many grad students and postdocs of color in math. #MathSky

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service. “Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.

NSF's Undergraduate Research Coordination Networks in Undergraduate Biology program has been abruptly archived. The deadline was tomorrow. People were submitting proposals. This program is designed to support the American scientific workforce. I cannot see the point of this level of self-sabotage.

I'm seeing folks posting about NSF pausing operations or sending stop-work notifications to PIs (I haven't received one, despite having two active proposals). Please be very careful about what you post and share. Vet information first. Cite sources. Maintain credibility via information hygiene.
