it's lulu. she's a shinx. which is a cat-like design from the pokemon world of video games. in our own world, she's a thoughtform. a vulnerable little splinter off a larger soul. a psychiatric phenomenon that the artist rarely elaborates on, for a mixture of reasons (privacy, embarrassment, judgement)

she's sopping wet, even though she's wearing a little cat-sized raincoat. she enjoys it though. she likes the wet. she's just found a frog and the delight is showing on her face.

For katsi I knew I wanted a darker-skinned girlie with kind of an alt/failgirl look. The big anime hair cinched it Deciding what she would look like at the END was the hard part. I wanted her recognizably human, but with lots of little odd visual changes. In the end I erred too conservative i think

A comic page, where a dark-skinned girl named Katsi sits at her messy computer desk and starts a diary entry. Empty soda cans and ramen cups sit on top of stacked CRT computer montiors.

A large cutaway shows her having sex with a slender, mutli-limbed, gossamer-white salamander alien. The alien's thick tongue is penetrating Katsi's ear, and bursting out her OTHER ear with wet squeltches. The alien's thin and flexible tail is stuffed deep in Katsi's butthole. Katsi drools happily, one eye half-closed.

Text explains that the alien ("Gala") has been studying humans in secret, and that they're "researching" each other right now. A small panel shows the two of them naked, smiling, with cups of steaming tea, sharing a demure kiss.

The last panel states "However... it appears to be having some... effects." There is a close-up of Katsi's mouth, with her tongue having bifurcated into two glowing white tentacles.

Several additional diary entries--all dated weeks apart--detail additional transformations to Katsi's body.

Her sweat and saliva have both been replaced by milk that has an odd property: it changes flavor based on what she's thinking about at the time.

She's gained the ability to SEE wi-fi, but she can't turn it off, and it makes it very hard to sleep.

Her digestive system has simplified into a kind of straight, squishy tube. She mentions something Gala told her: Gala's fluids are causing encoding errors in Katsi's RNA. "Like a Unicode character getting an extra bit flipped on, and suddenly mapping to something unexpected."

A final comic page, where Gala and Katsi are sitting in Katsi's bedroom. Gala is running a scan on Katsi's lower back, and points out that her Appendix is now producing a short-throw force field. Her organ seems to think her vertebrae need protection from small-caliber plasma rifles. Katsi is shocked.

Gala says "Not a gift from my species I'm afraid", to which Katsi pauses, closing her eyes and quietly musing "But a gift nonetheless".

Gala stares at the human girl in awe, before slurping her tongue across her face with a smile. Katsi giggles and meekly tries to bat away the alien hands cupping her cheeks. "How about a few more changes, then?" Gala says. Katsi begins to feel her hand warp--the matter flowing like water.

She thinks "To be loved is to be changed."
