Simple choice dialogue system during combat. It's easy to navigate and won't usually punish the players except maybe on their first playthroughs provided they have the correct item. Most EK runners like possibly losing encounters for tension but I wasn't the biggest fan of it so I chose SMT style.

It is also the background I am most comfortable with. Most things I enjoy playing have some sort of documentation or wiki guide and I would want to enable that. I did not want to go the full route of having a separate calculator tool though as I prefer playing my difficulty hacks calcless.

Catch style is much closer to SMT with a basic trial error conversation for lore. I spoke with some other EK/RenPlat runners and I came to the conclusion that since most people hack in candies and infinite money anyway, success should come down to either having a documentation or memorization.

How I make backgrounds for my game. Usually it starts out with an even looser sketch and a million perspective lines before it gets shrunken down but this one didn't have too many props. Even with 3D nowadays I like to use good old vanishing points #pixelart #gamedev
