I painted #Tenna to commemorate the anniversary of #Deltarune Chapters 3&4 releasing last year! Even as a writer, it's pretty hard to convey in words what this game/story means to me, so I won't try, (1/3)

Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of when I finished drafting 🌙, my first novel. Like I always do since then, I spent it writing. 🙂 It remains the book of my heart, and I've edited and tinkered with it a lot over the years to make it match my Vision. Here's a fav passage. #writesky #writing

I finally manage to speak my most burning question aloud – certainly not my only question, but the one I came here for, fearful as I am of the answer. “Why did you do it, Jeff? I mean… what the fuck happened?”
He shrugs and looks at his hands, now folded neatly on the table. “I dunno. Just lost it, I guess.”
I press him. Gentle, but firm. “Did you have issues with them that I didn’t know about?”
Again, he shrugs. Shakes his head as though lost in thought. “Nah, man, they were nice guys. Super solid dudes. Sucks things had to turn out that way.”
“Was it…” I hesitate. I don’t want to ask, really. But I have to know. “I mean, was it the situation?”
He looks up at me, but no matter how badly I want to, I can’t read his face. I can’t tell what he’s thinking. Maybe I was deluding myself to have ever thought I could, once upon a time. “I don’t know, man. Maybe.”
There’s a pause, which I force myself to break quickly – I’m painfully aware we don’t have much time. “If only we had stayed the fuck home and not gone to that party, huh?”
He smiles. “Yeah.”
Still carefully minding my voice, my tone, I add, “I think about that all the time. We could be at home playing video games right now if we hadn't gone to that damn party.”
“Crazy to think about.”
I shake my head. “What’s crazy is how everything went from being completely fine to going to absolute shit overnight.”
“That’s life, man. That’s how it goes sometimes.”
I frown, locking eyes with him. “That’s… no, Jeff. None of this should have happened. None of it.”
