Today the Senate voted in favor of a war powers resolution ordering the Trump administration to stop U.S. forces from attacking Iran. The House of Representatives passed the same resolution last month; it is the first time since the approval of the War Powers Bill in 1973 that both Houses of Congress have ordered a President to end military actions.

The resolutions passed after massive grassroots pressure from groups across the country. AFSC supporters sent more than 20,000 messages to their congresspeople asking them to vote yes.

AFSC welcomes this important and long overdue vote. The unprovoked and illegal war with Iran has killed thousands of people and displaced many more.
