Some more of Richard Thomas's wall art with a silhouette hidden within. There's also "Wall of Putrid Flesh", which is such a crazy card name. 😆

Dinobot from Beast Wars Transformers, former member of the villain team ends his story the greatest of heroes. Sunset at his back before the epic battle begins, this scene is a perfect thematic fit for a MtG proxy card of Pantlaza.

One of my favorite MtG proxy cards I've ever made is this Pokemon TCG frame Doubling Season. I chose the hydra Pokemon Hydrapple, inspired by the official Magic art by Chuck Lukacs. I've made this card image available on my Ko-fi.

I found this anime figure of Hatsune Miku holding a plush unicorn, so I redid the art for my MtG proxy card of Lathiel. 🦄 This works so much better than my original design. I just hope my Miku SLD proxy project doesn't have too many revisions along the way. 😆

Rin from the anime Yuru Camp (Laid-Back Camp) chops some firewood. This is probably my favorite cozy, slice-of-life anime. Have you watched it? 🏕️ Also, if you have a proliferate deck, do you run the depletion lands in your deck? I like using the UB style for my MtG proxy cards.

Happy 21st anniversary to Shakugan no Shana! One of my favorite anime of all time. 🔥 Here are a few MtG proxy cards I've designed over the years inspired by this anime.

I decided that this art of Miku reads better as a horse instead of a unicorn. So I decided to swap art for my Miku SLD deck MtG proxy card project.

The FINAL version of Bear Paw. Thanks for all of the feedback everyone! So it turns out Enchanted and Equipped mean nothing as long as the Aura or Equipment is "attached" to a creature. Just a perfect example of the rules nightmare a card with Bestow and Reconfigure really is.

Jace created the Echoverse to be better than the regular Multiverse by eliminating Bolas, Eldrazi and Phyrexians. But A LOT of the denizens of the Echoverse actually ended up living WORSE lives. How many characters were TRULY happier in the Echoverse?

The delicate flower, or Everbloom as it's called in Hollow Knight Silksong, is a pure blossom that can repel the Void. I chose this scene to make an MtG proxy of Lotus Field because the protective thorns allude to this card's hexproof ability.

The Mandalorian approaches with binary suns setting on the horizon behind him. I kinda feel like Edge of Eternities missed a chance to do more space-themed reprints like Approach of the Second Sun, so I made this Star Wars MtG proxy card.

Thanks so much for the compliment! 😉 Magi: the Labyrinth of Magic is 1,001 Arabian Nights, the anime. The lady in the art on this proxy is named Scheherazade. I thought this screen shot looked very similar to the official art. And kudos to WotC and the animation studio for the similar designs.

It should be no surprise that the anime Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, provides plenty of source material for MtG proxy cards from Arabian Nights.

Swirling waves of darkness surround Ganondorf as he raises the Triforce of Power in his hand. Few other artifacts of power in Magic evoke fear in your opponents quite like Bolas's Citadel, which is the same feeling I wanted to capture in this MtG proxy card.

My custom Bestow x Reconfigure card with new rules text. I've conferred with a few friends on the wording and this should work such that the equipment won't give the 2/2 Bear an additional +2/+2. Still a crazy complicated card, but it should hopefully be correct now! 😅

I thought about that too, but at that point I kinda thought it would be TOO good (and even more wordy). 😆 Plus I wanted it to be different from Trickster's Elk.

Another possible wording. I think I like this one better.

I think this doesn't work how I originally intended. Here is a proposed alternative wording.

030

Affinity for Anime @affinityforanime.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

I thought it would be really silly to put Bestow and Reconfigure on the same MtG card. But as I was thinking about what this card could do while it was an Aura or Equipment, it kinda turned into "how many 2/2 for 1G Bear jokes can I cram onto this custom card?" 🐻

Affinity for Anime @affinityforanime.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

It's a +/- P/T though, not a P/T. Also Vehicles already have built-in P/T. So it's already something that works within current Magic rules.

020

Affinity for Anime @affinityforanime.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Magic card design idea: If an Equipment or Aura modifies a creature's power/toughness, put those changes in the P/T box as a reminder. You can put the attached card under the creature and see the changes more easily. Maybe even use blue text for plus and red for minus. Thoughts?

A statue of the Pale King stands above a wishing fountain in the Ancient Basin in Hollow Knight. The inspiration for this MtG proxy card is not just the grim state of this scene, but also the shape of the Pale King's crown looks similar to the official art for Grim Monolith.

Hear me out. "Basic" as a Magic supertype is only on Basic Land cards signifying that any number of them can be in a deck rather than the usual limit of 4 or 1 per card. What if MtG used Basic on other card types as shorthand for "a deck can have any number of this card"?

Some Magic players aren't a fan of subtypes without any game mechanics purpose. But creatures have had subtypes purely for flavor ever since Alpha. I think if other card types had subtypes from the beginning of the game, these examples I made below wouldn't seem so strange.

I can understand some MtG players' preference for subtypes to have gameplay purpose. But personally, I'd prefer the inclusion of subtypes that only exist for flavor. I think it would be awesome if all these lands received these subtypes just because I think it's cool.
