On World Mental Health Day, let's make room for the people behind the work. Let's make space to check in with one another. A simple question can go a long way: How are you really doing? Like if you agree, and share this with your colleagues and friends.

In our industry, conversations often start with work. But let us remember that behind that work is a person.
Graphic for World Mental Health Day with a light blue background and two speech bubbles. The first reads, “What are you working on next?” and the second reads, “How are you really doing?” The message encourages checking in on one another beyond work and making space for genuine conversations about well-being. “World Mental Health Day” appears at the bottom of the graphic.

We don’t need to avoid the topic or the word itself, and we don’t need to know exactly what to say. We simply need to listen and be nonjudgmental. Being prepared to have an open, supportive conversation could make a difference - and could save a life.

For World Suicide Prevention Day, let’s normalize talking about suicide - not just today or this month, but all year long. Let’s talk about suicide the same way we talk about physical health. Learning the warning signs and how to start a conversation helps us prepare to support someone in crisis.
