Update on Bear's vet visit. Um.. it's not what I was expecting, and it's not what I wanted to hear. He goes back in next week for more bloodwork which will be sent to a specialized clinic to test for the DM markers. I feel numb.

Bear had his vet visit today and, um.. it went in a direction I don't think I was prepared for. it's not what any of us wants to hear.

The vet did an exam and then took X-rays of Bear's spine, hips, and knees. He could see arthritis in Bear's left knee where he tore his ACL years ago, but he said all things considered, his back and hips look okay for a dog his age, and his knee's arthritis isn't so severe that he felt it was the sole reason for Bear's decline in mobility.
What he thinks is going on here is degenerative myelopathy.
DM is common in corgis, it cannot be reversed or cured. Treatment includes maintaining comfort, physical therapy where applicable, and lifestyle changes that include mobility aids.
The decline rate seems to be about 6 months to 3 years, with most reports being 6 months to 1 year until full paralysis and organ shutdown.

He goes back in for a labwork which will be sent out for more extensive testing to determine if he DOES have DM. But honestly, he fits nearly all the symptoms and identifiers for it, so I feel already inclined to believe that's what this is.

They're lying liars, I'm tired of the clipping excuse! Zenos isn't even the first time they had long hair! (M) Hair 106 is calling, pick up the phone yoshi-p! Those that are bothered by the clipping can choose not to wear them, while those begging for longer hair can finally have it!
