This could actually be one of my sleeper personal GOTY contenders. Wasn’t particularly groundbreaking but it knew what its lane was and did it really well! Very much recommend to anyone looking for a SNES/GBA-esque Zelda-like adventure.

Square Enix have a stacked slate of titles ahead. And that’s just what we know of. Could we actually be about to enter a new golden era?

Didn’t have Brave Exvius turning into a HD-2D game on my Direct bingo card but you know what, I’ll take it!

I reacted like a perfectly normal person would to the FFVII Revelation reveals. 😅

Me: I’ll just cut up the stream footage and make a quick reaction video for Final Fantasy VII Revelation and add some thoughts. Also me: “quick” ends up being an hour long. Err… enjoy? 😅 youtu.be/4qIU7gko1io?...

So after much umm’ing and ahh’ing about giving content creation a crack, mostly due to how self-conscious I am about my voice, I’ve taken the plunge over the past month and a bit. youtube.com/@aerythlea?s...

The more I replay Rebirth the more I come to realise it’s a damn shame it didn’t get GOTY. The care and passion that has clearly been poured into every aspect of it is just mind boggling. Don’t get me wrong I *really* liked Astro Bot and was happy to see it win at the time, but in hindsight…

First of the two FF MtG booster boxes I ordered arrived today. Will probably do a video cracking the 2nd one, just wanted to enjoy looking at everything on my own pace with this first one.

Me: I am *so* in for a CE of the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster if there is one. Square Enix: That’ll be £249.99 please. Me: On second thoughts, I’m out.

I think - since the release of Baldur’s Gate III, we’ve been living in the new golden era of RPGs and just haven’t realised it as we’re in it. There have been *SO* many good RPGs, either brand new or wonderful remasters, over the past 2 years. Maybe a hot take but it’s my feeling.

One of the most pervasively cringe parts of gaming discourse on social media is the amount of people who seem to think that dev teams have unfettered access to their employers entire financial resources…

About 90hrs into Metaphor now and I’m bewildered at how a certain, let’s call it “vocal group,” says this game isn’t woke. Can only assume they either: a) haven’t played it. b) skipped all the dialogue (particularly the follower loyalty stuff). Because most of it is not even subtly on the nose.

The weirdest thing I’ve seen today is people arguing in an FFVII Facebook group that OG VII (and VIII/IX) were only on multiple discs because Square wanted to make more money and could’ve easily fit the each game on one disc like with FFX…

Game devs (dev-adjacent in my case too) post your first shipped game and your latest shipped game. Technically only worked on the most recent for a few weeks before I was laid-off, but I’ll take it 😅

I said that Astro Bot could be the dark horse for GOTY and what do you know. Hopefully the likes of Metaphor, Astro Bot, and Balatro winning so much between them will go to show that not everything needs to be astronomical bordering AAAA productions and shift the focus back to core gameplay loops.

Possibly a hot take but I think it sucks that some of the awards are done in a rapid fire format so that more trailers can be stuffed in.

Wonder how long it’ll be before a certain corner of the internet starts saying that The Witcher has gone woke because Ciri is the protag. Don’t care though, I am *so* ready to play it.
