There's more here than coins and hexagrams. Every hexagram maps onto the Tree of Life, for those who want to go deeper. Cast one. See how deep it goes. ascii-ching.com
Glowing green Qabalistic Tree of Life on a starfield, each node marked with an I Ching hexagram. Text reads "There's more here than coins and hexagrams," with the URL ascii-ching.com glowing in cyan below.

Thanks! I do love the coins. I thought about adding an option where you can enter your own coin throws

Could be fluke too - each line has a 1-in-4 chance of changing, so roughly 1 in 6 readings comes out stable with no moving lines

Thank you! The changing lines should be cyan. I updated a few things, please let me know if it is still glitched for you.

Cast a reading, see what comes up, tell me what breaks. Not AI-generated. Real three-coin cast. Claude helped distill human translations. All sources credited on /references. ascii-ching.com #SmallWeb #ASCIIArt
A completed ASCII-Ching reading. A sample question at top. Below it, a hexagram of six lines. The "Distilled" translation tab is selected showing a paragraph of text. A piece of ASCII art appears at the bottom of the reading.

Joan G. Stark (jgs) was the Queen of ASCII Art in the Usenet/GeoCities era. Thousands of pieces, all signed jgs, then her site vanished in 2009. Her work is the heart of ASCII-Ching. Every signature kept. I've hosted a fork of her gallery so it lives on: ascii-ching.com/jgs-master/j...
The ASCII-Ching tribute page honoring Joan G. Stark. ASCII art with the "jgs" signature visible. Green/white characters on a black background.

ASCII-Ching is live. ascii-ching.com A browser I Ching built from hand-curated ASCII art. 64 hexagrams, 448 images, 11 English translations distilled into a 12th reading. All sources credited on /references. Plain HTML/CSS/JS. No framework. No login. No tracking.
A vintage 1980s television set on a table, powered on. The screen displays ASCII-Ching in glowing green: the words "ASCII CHING" above a bagua and yin-yang symbol rendered in ASCII characters, with a question prompt below.

Most of the art isn't mine. The biggest contributor is Joan G. Stark (jgs), Queen of ASCII Art from the Usenet/GeoCities era. Her site vanished in 2009. Every signature kept. I've hosted a fork of her site as well so it lives on: ascii-ching.com/jgs-master/j...
