all the scare quotes on this lol, fox "news" everybody

Screenshot of article: The administrative subpoenas mark a serious escalation by the Trump administration against a far-left nonprofit activist network that has spent years defending communist regimes, from Cuba to China, while presenting its work as humanitarian aid, anti-war organizing and "solidarity" with people "oppressed" by the "imperialist" U.S "colonial power."

39. Crimson Peak (2015) Ophelia and I watched this together to kick off October... Excellent drama that is a love letter to classic gothic lit Guillermo del toro never disappoints, absolutely stunning cinematography, lighting, composition, etc... Fantastic practical effects, great acting. It's Good

38. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (rewatch) It was only recently I saw FMA for the first time... Watching it again with more friends just cements it for me: This is one of my favorite series of all time. It's life-altering. It's simply one of those shows you must watch.

36. Devil May Cry (2007 anime) Rose showed me this, and it actually made me really interested in DMC as a series... I especially adore the character Patty, whom Rose tells me isn't actually in the games other than a cameo appearance? which makes me very sad... Still, I thoroughly enjoyed this show-

35. Giant Monster Dogfight - Gamera vs. Gyaos (1967) A lot of showa era kaiju movies seem deeply problematic in some way, and this movie doesn't escape that. However, Gyaos makes a great counterpart to Gamera- its weakness to spinning, gamera's inability to counter its flame suppression.

Gyaos, a bat kaiju, looming over a large crowd of people, looking up in terror at it.

i dragged my feet updating the thread... 34. Giant Monster Duel - Gamera vs. Barugon (1966) I'm working through all the Gamera movies. This one is incredibly racist unfortunately. Ostensibly a story about the folly of greed, Gamera fights a greedy quadruped kaiju that can shoot a rainbow beam(??)

Barugon emitting a rainbow from its back

Watched the third gamera movie with Rose. Completely fucking baffled by the big plan they come up with to defeat the enemy kaiju in the end is to literally set a massive forest on fire, and nobody has any problems with this at all

Old man saying: "He firmly believes Gamera will come if we start a forest fire."

Military official saying: "The forest fire is our last hope."

33. Star Trek Deep Space 9 (Season 7) The finale to my favorite Trek series. The leadup to the finale is full of so many incredible scenes, phenomenal episodes and great acting. My feelings on the final episode are mixed, and all I'm really left with is a sadness that DS9 is no more. :(

31. The Thing (rewatch) Another one of the monster movies I hosted, and another favorite of mine. Just a masterpiece of horror. I don't think I could ever get tired of it.

29. Pacific Rim (Rewatch) Another contender for one of my favorite movies! Again, showed this off to a bunch of friends and oomfs in a server I'm in. Just a blast of an action movie. I wish the main mech wasn't named a slur tho.

28. Godzilla (1954) The original. I started showing a bunch of monster movies to friends in a server recently which is why there's (even more) goji here. What can I say that hasn't been said before? It's simply a must-watch movie. Truly timeless.

26. Everything Everywhere All At Once I was... incredibly sleep deprived watching this movie, and I feel like that does it a disservice. A deeply emotional, personal film that has a sense of humor to boot. eeaao is tremendously important and I really gotta re-watch it when I'm not so tired...

25. Invincible (seasons 1-3) I think I forgot to talk about invincible earlier in this thread? I had seen season 1 before but S2-3 were new to me. I think it's great, but doesn't entirely live up to all the hype (for me). My favorite is Battle Beast. My friend worf-- I mean battle beast...

24. Godzilla Final Wars (2004) This movie is insane. Think about the craziest action movie you've ever seen. This is probably even nuttier. Just balls to the wall action and breakneck paced plot/kaiju battles. Def inspired by the Matrix, and it shows. Crazy way to celebrate the 50th anniversary

23. Return of Godzilla (1984) The first film in the Heisei series of Godzilla movies, pretty entertaining movie overall. Features cold-war tensions running high because of Godzilla(!), and a nuke launched via satellite exploding in the atmosphere and powering up godzilla via nuclear lightning(?????)

18. Deltarune (Chapter 2) I sort of rushed my re-play of this, because I was playing it the night before ch3-4 came out. Still, I found ch2 to be incredibly charming. Queen is still one of the funniest characters in any games to me, and I absolutely love the development Noelle gets here!

A scene of Susie and Noelle looking at the moon. Noelle is saying "Right... if YOU'RE here, it must be a dream..."

17. Deltarune (Chapter 1) First time I've replayed DR in a while, and I enjoyed my time thoroughly. The gags are just as funny to me, and the game still knows how to tug at my heart. UT/DR will always be special to me!! Here's the vod if you're curious, www.youtube.com/watch?v=cH3h...

16. Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S (2003) This movie was underwhelming compared to its prequel (Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla). It does away with a lot of the more interesting characters from that movie to focus on a mechanic and his family. There's some cool shots, and Mothra is there, but it's kinda dull.

14. Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002) Actually a great movie! There was some heavy-handed NGE inspiration here, but I'm not complaining. Lots of really punchy action w/ mecha + goji, and the characters are fun/memorable. Love when Godzilla movies have a woman as the protagonist!

12. Star Trek Deep Space Nine - Season 6 I've been slowly watching through DS9 with Rose, and we just finished S6. This season has two of star trek's best episodes, "Far Beyond the Stars" and "In the Pale Moonlight". Exemplary television that endlessly compels me

11. Godzilla Minus One (Rewatch) What can I say? Just a phenomenal film all around. Themes, characters, acting, score, script... Everyone should watch this movie. This must be my 4th or 5th watch of it, I'm very glad I could show it off to @amethystreverie.bsky.social & some others! ^^

10. Spy x Family (Season 1) I've been watching this with @amethystreverie.bsky.social lately, and I can't get over how charming and cute this show is. I always heard people praise it, but I never expected it to be something I'd enjoy... I'm glad Kiyo finally convinced me, though, it's been great!

Yor making an extremely fake smile. She says "He can't know I rip people apart and throw them around for my 'job'!"

9. Sonic x Shadow Generations Technically not my first sonic game, but it's definitely the first one I really committed to playing. This game is *really* fun. On top of loving Shadow immensely, I just had a blast playing it. It's short, but definitely something special. Shadow is the coolest ever.
