Manufacturing jobs (think union jobs) are much more stable and lucrative than jobs in raw materials. Why are we shooting our manufacturing industry in the head for the sake of 84,000 steel jobs? This is about political points, not about protecting jobs, and it will backfire spectacularly. /6

Any foreign manufacturer, say, of automobiles or appliances that are made of steel can buy the steel for 25% cheaper internationally because they don't have to pay a tariff. And now U.S. automobile and appliance manufacturers have to pay a 25% tariff. /3

It makes imports of raw steel more expensive. But think about this for all of 5 minutes and anyone with half a brain would understand that this is incredibly damaging to the domestic producers of any finished goods that use steel. /2

The President cannot disband a federal agency that was created and funded by Congress and signed into law by a previous President. This is President Trump disobeying the law, pure and simple. I wish NPR would report this in their stories: they should have a first-year law student on staff.

No. (1) Democrats had a majority in the House of Representatives at the time. They do not today so they cannot introduce articles. (2) He was impeached for conditioning foreign aid on political help,i.e., for personal benefit/corruptly. This is not that. He is just refusing to spend money.
