I dislike this Mandleson debate, he was always odious and put in post because of iffy Trump connections. I don’t know why they can’t admit that. I have trouble squaring the outrage with a prime minister taking bribes and enriching his mates only five years ago whilst also ignoring clearances.

There’s me writing an algorithm to approximately trace two colour images with Claude and it’s immediately apparent why engineers aren’t going anywhere soon. The problem is too complex even on a max plan

Systems Don’t Dig the Vibes: Why Engineering Matters More Than Ever
I’ve spent my life coding because I love the puzzle. For me, code was never the goal; it was the medium through which I solved problems.

I've built my @verevoir/qr npm library into a tool everyone can use. Url shortening, click tracking and qr codes that work for print, the web and crafters without the lock-in. Slinqi.io is very much a beta app, but you're welcome to try it and feedback.

Workflows should be simple state machines—no need to overcomplicate things or get locked into a 3rd party platform. Keep the state on your own objects and use a light library for the logic. I built @verevoir/access to show how; feel free to use it or copy the code. github.com/verevoir/acc...

Now that gen-ai is a thing I think I can genuinely accept that a computing degree would be a necessary starting point for a career. However it would have a very different structure than what’s currently taught.

What do you know? Whoosh isn’t very wooshy. Couldn’t be arsed to get dressed and walk across the road, so tried our free delivery today and like everything else involving an uber driver here, it was half an hour late. The local Uber / Deliveroo / JustEat service is unusable.

Only the willfully ignorant miss the parallel: “Don’t Be a Sucker” was once a civic warning - now it’s prophecy. The U.S. regime’s flirtation with fascist theatrics, clothed in MAGA dogma, reveals a citizenry increasingly pliant to authoritarianism. History indicts us all.

The AI was n tech debate is clearly split between managers and analysts who hope they no longer need developers and developers who’ve seen this a dozen times before. It’s definitely useful, but it’s best at writing the code we shouldn’t write.
