Five thousand years ago in Skara Brae someone carved themselves a little friend. In all times humans walk the Earth, they make themselves little friends.

A whale bone carving in a museum setting, dated 2900-2400BC. It depicts a little guy, with a simple face and round body, with a notable belly button.

Abissine, celebrating their conquest of Abyssinia. You might know it as conchiglie. Or even just "shells." There are two others, both lesser known. Tripoline for Tripoli, which is a ridged wavy noodle, assabesi also small shells but without ridges.

In his card is written "You annoy me less than other people". Sugar plums are made by tumbling a small seed in sugar until it forms a large ball. Their name comes from the resemblance to plums and not because they are made with plums.
