Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Lol this isn’t the faculty lounge. Whoever is left on the MAGA side of things is some dipshit Three Percenter and his wife who watches TLC reality shows five hours a day. These are hateful people and deeply bad hangs. 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I thought the mayor was selected from the town council in Sparta and that those elections were on a non-partisan basis. 010
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 02/10/2026This should be hanging as a sign in every Democratic politician and consultant’s office 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Really seems like those two goals are in tension with each other 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Choosing to live in NYC and commute in to Philly is such an FU to Philly. You want to chase a ring but otherwise want nothing to do with being here. 110
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 29/09/2026The GOP really does have the “guys in their early 20s with receding hairlines” market cornered. 0170
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 28/09/2026So who is he implying is the non-friend in the starting lineup? 030
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I hate that I can hear his fucking voice saying this. The inflection, the tone, everything. 020
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 28/09/2026No kidding. Stuff like this is the only use-case for crypto. 001
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 27/09/2026It’s really hard to overstate the damage this shit did. Trump’s brain (and therefore the brains of like 30% of the country) is basically stuck in like a Morton Downey, Jr. episode from 1987. 041
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 27/09/2026“Being an asshole” is a leading ideology in the USA and Trump is the avatar for that ideology. Any analyst or pundit who tries to offer something deeper than that is just misreading the moment. 0190
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 26/09/2026If they want to prosecute some health insurance companies, go for it, but I can’t imagine that’s where this is headed. 160
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 26/09/2026I think the only way this could work is if the accusation is that the insurance companies are committing the fraud. But, that is very much not the accusation. 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Weird, then, that the OJ Simpson season of American Crime Story didn’t make the top 100. 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Why was True Detective the only series given the designation of a single season? Was that something on the ballot or was that something everyone voting for it penciled in? 100
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 23/09/2026Chris Christie was one of the first major figures to endorse Trump and it just ended with Trump calling him a fat slob. 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 23/09/2026It’s so funny that people like Cruz eat shit and debase themselves, thinking that one day the tables will turn and they’ll call the shots. Never happening. 100
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 22/09/2026The first time AI does an aspect of your job that you otherwise hate is pretty tempting, but even then, the limitations show after a little playtime with it. 010
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 22/09/2026It’s not even an earworm. No hook, nothing. I can’t imagine the personality of the person who wants to hear this, but I guess there are a lot of them. 020
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 22/09/2026They don’t use it cause the insurance sucks and you still end up with a big ass bill. 200
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Also, 4 of the last 10 pulitzer winners for fiction were white men, which would appear to be over representation. The last winner was a novel about religion and war by a white man. 0272
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 22/09/2026In their mind there must be objective ways of determining the “best students” (GPA, SAT) or the “best books.” Otherwise, they couldn’t claim these titles for themselves. 1180
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 22/09/2026People like Stephens cannot get past the exposure that things like college admissions and artistic accolades are inherently political decisions because it exposes the fact that their own credentials and accolades were due to political considerations. 1262
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 22/09/2026Just looking at the fiction pulitzer, 4 of the last ten years had a white male winner, including the most recent winner, who wrote a book about religion and war, two topics conservatives obsess about. Not only is the argument silly to begin with, it isnt even factually true. 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I can’t believe they still have Chris Berman doing this schtick 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 21/09/2026How more furrowed could that brow be? None, none more furrowed. 010
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Millions of Americans, including those that summer in Greece and the Vineyard . . . 020
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Pretty good rule of thumb that any time your supposed disinterested inquiry yields the conclusion that you, in fact, deserve a lot of money, it wasn’t that disinterested an inquiry. 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Did it occur to them to interrogate why certain regions are poor? Did it have anything to do with prioritizing the needs of richer countries? It’s also remarkable for people who are supposedly looking at the far future to feel bound by present conditions or conditions over the last few centuries. 100
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I really do think it’s that we’re the generation who got hit by changing social norms the hardest. Xers are expected to be supervise younger generations who have very different views on what is acceptable behavior. 000
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 15/09/2026I disagree. Maybe it’s just my co-hort, but a lot of Xers were able to get mortgages with crazy interest rates and receive the benefits of the market run-up in our portfolios. College costs are bad for our kids but I went to a state school for a pretty reasonable price. 100
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 14/09/2026This is the whole thing and all any Dem candidate needs to say. Just say that “the transgender community are people trying to live their lives. The GOP has decided to make them a target because they have no answers on the issues that actually matter to people.” No need for anything more. 021
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Putting aside RD as television presence, the level of writing on this is like a middle schooler’s current events assignment. 010
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 13/09/2026It really does give the game away and makes it so easy to just continue “yes, this is what republicans want to talk about because they have no answers on the cost of living, healthcare, housing, jobs, the things people actually care about” 050
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 13/09/2026If there is one thing the HR lady hates, it’s Taylor Swift and pop country 0160
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 13/09/2026He is the perfect candidate for roping in low-info voters. 020
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 12/09/2026It’s pretty astonishing that this country, and its electoral system, managed to elect the worst possible person president, have him be the worst president, somehow forget, within 4 years that he was the worst president, and then re-elect him. 192
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I know this is small potatoes on Trump’s list of crimes, but he lied about this to the point of prosecuting someone to cover up his lies. In any other administration this would be an incredible scandal. 150
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 11/09/2026My initial reaction was that this was some kind of messed up safety drill. Then I turned on my computer and tried to talk about the Columbian Exchange and not totally dissociate. Just a surreal day, a surreal time. 001
Andrew Dressel @adressel.bsky.social · 11/09/2026I was a teacher on 9/11, teaching US History to 8th graders in NJ. In the morning we had a few kids leave early, but it didn’t alarm me. Then the custodian came to my classroom and handed me a memo from the principal explaining about the attacks and asking us not to say anything to the students. 100
