“Me?” said Yago. “You’re the fucking muscle. You shoot it!”
The animal snorted, lurched past the rear windows, and vanished behind the truck.
“Oh, fuck,” said Yago. “Did I close the back door?”
Silence followed. Then a creak, a small thing, like a hinge in need of oil.
The back of the truck sagged. Something fell. A lot of something. Loaded canvas bags, boxes, and crates.
“Fuuuuuuuck,” Yago said.

The world already has the concept of genetically engineered people, but Dainn is different because he was built using the remains of another person and began life as an adult. #LitHodgepodge #WritingCommunity

Lima put two cups of coffee on the table. Corde grinned a thank you and pushed one of them across the table with his fingertips while Dainn congratulated himself on the meaningless memory that had not turned out to be completely meaningless.
Corde sipped his coffee and flinched, either because it was too hot or because it was awful. Probably some of both. Dainn eyed his cup with suspicion.

I recently had a character create a real problem for me in the third act ... he said something that was *definitely* the thing he would say, but the direction that would have taken the story pointed to a weaker ending. So it stalled my whole writing process and required some significant thought.
