I still think about the Happyman hiatus sometimes. Some projects can be finished when they're ready.

Happyman On The Red Planet And George is a YouTube musical series with an improvised, surreal plot. 7 episodes in, it takes a dark turn, and by the 17th episode, it accidentally takes an even darker turn. The creator felt unready to wrap up such a story, and made several prequels and spinoffs in the meantime exploring its retcons. The series concluded 14 years later.

In Mega Man games with an intro stage, I really appreciate when it doesn't just take place in the middle of some city. It was cool when X1 did it, but there have been a billion imitations since. Say what you will of the Zero series, but it dodged that and showed some other possibilities.

In my ROMHack-playing phase. I like Tsukikuro's later hacks, specifically 3 Claw-- it has juuust the right amount of BS. Maybe the powerups are a bit generous, but it genuinely feels like it wants you to keep going.

As an Astro Boy fan, I get that it's the main anime Western Mega Man fans are familiar enough with to draw comparisons between. Skimming the different influences namedropped for Mega Man, though, the one the franchise would be the most different without would probably be Casshern. Just a PSA.

Fan designs of Anman and Nikuman, prototype Eddies from MM1. Anman would recover some energy and Nikuman would recover it fully. According to Kobun20, the "man" in their names is actually short for "manjū"-- they're named after food!

Some translated the names as "Anne and Nick", so I imagine them as a girl and a boy. Since they're both named after buns, I made them much rounder than Eddie (which fits with 1's doughy style).

Anko manjū is a bun filled with sweet bean paste; a dessert. I made Anman lidless to set her apart a little more from Eddie.

Niku manjū is a bun filled with meat. I believe it's another name for those steamed pork buns, with the swirly shape at the top, so I added a little stripe pattern to the top of his head as a nod to that.

Third attack was a case of a simple design with a really fun idea behind him. The bendy root arms let me sorta get loose and make more twisty, curvy lines. I found Petrhum early on through the random OC button, and I regret not attacking more of those. OC by Sillby. artfight.net/attack/98962...

I've always been a fan of Megaman design principals (even the worst ones rarely miss💯) n this design is super fun. This was one of my earliest artfight sketches, but it ended up being the one I struggled the most with. It was one of those things where I got so ambitious with the idea that I kinda paralyzed myself in choices until enough time passed that my mind went "JUST DO SOMETHING". Even though I coulda done more contrast wise, this is probably among my most intense examples of my over-rendered sketch trick to date which I am pleased with

as for why I went the ominous route once again; I've just been watching too much Casshern Sins LOL

Finished spriting my sillies. The lineup was stuck at 6 bosses for a while until I found some ways to close the weakness chain. Not every design is perfect, but they're consistent and help each other stand out. They're all NES accurate too (though Drain Man would flicker a little). #megaman
