Anne Carson has so many incredible works to celebrate, so I will choose a newer one I’m very fond of, “H of H Playbook.” A mix of poetry, art, handwritten notes, it’s a full experience in the way that only Carson can pull off.

This is one of my favorites of the last couple of years. So impressed with someone who can make any sort of sense of this play, and in such a clever way.

Kent Monkman’s new beaver sculpture had the biggest crowd, but everything is really beautiful. We’re so lucky to have a space like this downtown.

We visited Toronto’s new Biidaasige Park today and were completely blown away. It’s a huge park that’s been beautifully designed with wide walking paths that easily accommodate walking, biking, strollers, pets, you name it! This is the new best place to see the downtown skyline.

The song choices were inspired and even included Kate Bush’s “And Dream of Sheep” (!). The final number, Annie Lennox’s “Love Song For A Vampire” (!!!) seemed chosen specially for Toronto icon @meakoopa.bsky.social and I am here for it. 🧛 A must-see if the tour is nearby!

Sasha Velour brought her new show “Travesty” to Toronto last night and it is true excellence in queer art. The projection work was some of the best I’ve seen anywhere, which is wild for a solo drag show that’s an ode to forgotten queer spaces. The vision, talent, and execution? Extraordinary.

On what seems like the last weekend of summer weather we had a lovely dinner outside and enjoyed watching the rising fulll moon on the long walk home.

It’s that time of year where Toronto can’t quite decide whether it’s summer or autumn. Gorgeous either way.

Thrilled that Christopher Manousos’ take on Measure for Measure is back at Crow’s Theatre. Set inside a live radio broadcast of the play, this intelligent production brings a lot of clarity to the piece. The cast is top notch, with each performer switching in and out of multiple roles. A must see!

Our fall 2026 theatre season is off to an unusual start. For the first time in many decades of theatre-going, act two was cancelled after a long intermission due to actor illness. At any rate, act one of A Fine Balance at Crow’s Theatre was very strong.

It looks like a clearer morning (so far) in Toronto after an apocalyptic storm last night. I managed to speed-walk home in a break between storms, trying hard to ignore the ominous clouds above me.

First time ever in a frat house last night…for an immersive theatre production of Julius Caesar. It was incredible! (The show, not the house. The house was exactly what tv and movie frat houses prepared me for.) A cast of young actors who were all terrific and a smart adaptation.

A new, clever mystery from @robertjbennett.bsky.social, A Trade Of Blood returns to a truly creepy Empire in its death throes. The more he unveils about its history the creepier it gets. This one, in particular, hits close to our own apocalyptic times. Lots of fungus if that’s your thing, too. 🍄

Trying to get outside in between air quality warnings is a drag, but right now it’s perfect weather in downtown Toronto. Blue sky, a cool breeze, bright sunshine. Enjoy it while it’s here!
