Okay so they’ve never actually reported on it, then. I’m sure it was widely suggested he MIGHT be, because that was the big rumor at the time. You heard what you wanted to hear. No actual reporting ever put him that high, and the best estimates and anecdata have him at 15k + bonuses.

Except there were no serious sources that put him on anywhere close to that. The Mail and Yahoo Sports hinted he “may have” “up to doubled” arsenals offer but like, come on. The best figure we have it that he’s was given the same 15k a week arsenal offered when he turned 17.

That’s fair, at least Delap at Stoke was a novel thing. Other teams saw the increasing quality and tactical intelligence of the league and got better at attacking. You lot farm set pieces and create a rugby scrum in the box.

Sorry, I forgot to credit Arteta’s muse Tony Pulis. You know the ways refs calling fouls in the box during set plays has changed. Pinning the goalkeeper between two players was a foul two years ago. Arsenal figured out it wasn’t, and have built a title challenge on farming corners.
