Happy that this paper found a venue, since the only time I presented it was pretty disastrous. Robert Audi walked out of the talk halfway, raising the total number of my talks that Robert Audi has left halfway through to two.

My paper "Reasons Isolated from Good Reasoning" is forthcoming in Australasian Journal of Philosophy. I argue that defeasible reasons aren't just premises in *normally* good deductive reasoning, despite what some very smart people think. philpapers.org/rec/DEARIF

I also appreciate @kartikchandra.bsky.social for doing the leg work of citing my paper before it was out in his very cool paper in TopiCS: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1.... (It would be neat to see if this solution can be extended to the desire attribution in Bartsch & Wellman 1995!)

Conniving With Continuations: Representing Goals in a Domain‐Specific Language of Thought
Wanting composes flexibly with knowing: we can want to know, want to know what someone wants, and so on. Here, we apply ideas from programming language theory to develop a formal goal representation ...

Check out my chapter with Ron Mallon on implicit attitudes in The Oxford Handbook of the Cognitive Science of Belief, edited by Neil Van Leeuwen and @tanialombrozo.bsky.social! It's an accessible (and opinionated) primer to recent philosophical work on implicit attitudes. philpapers.org/rec/DEAIBA

I wrote the first draft of it for an awesome seminar run by @noamchompers.bsky.social. I'm eternally grateful to him for his support on the project (despite never sending him drafts after multiple promises to do so).

My paper 'Desire, decoupling, and factive mentalizing' is forthcoming at Mind and Language! Attributing desire requires the complicated stuff for attributing belief, but empirical work suggests it's easier to do. What gives? Check out more here: philpapers.org/rec/DEADDA-5

SSPP 2025: Akshan deAlwis on Attribution of Desire
Factive Mentalizing and the Attribution of Desire Akshan deAlwis, Washington University Research on the extent of mentalizing – attributing and tracking the mental states of other minds – is highly heterogeneous. Some research indicates that mentalizing is fast, easy, and early developing, while other research indicates that it is slow, hard, and late developing. the feeling when you find a 200 view preprint on arxiv that suddenly gives your paper a sheen of empirical adequacy

This is actually why I don’t really get it when people are negatively polarized by people being annoying. Literally everyone is annoying. It’s the one truly universal political value

I now understand why it's so exhausting being a ghost/apparition. You don't really do anything except hang around, but *just being there* feels so much like work.

I love walking into a bar at 1 am, explaining to a rando that I just finished working, and then having to explain that, no I don't actually work.

would it make sense to say that strikes are like 'guilt' in that it's polysemous btwn a factual and legal notion? Not going to get what Asta wants here, but does a better job at explaining 'that was a strike' vs 'the ump should've called that a strike'
