It’s important to know that most probably don’t agree or disagree with any one decision. We will often have debate teams and dislike being censored, and then censor others. Many being familiar with some of these titles from the academia space as well. #BannedBooksWeek #LetBooksBe #AllBooksMatter

Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. A text in my collection and pretty good author. It explores race, identify, and systemic violence faced by black Americans. Problematic because it’s provocative sociopolitical commentary. #BannedBooksWeek #LetBooksBe #AllBooksMatter

Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds. It dissects racist theories and suggest how to build an antiracist society. Not sure why that’s a problem. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Haven’t read this one tho. #BannedBooksWeek #LetBooksBe #AllBooksMatter

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Surprising because I think this is a film and I wasn’t aware it was a book. It is considered controversial for challenging law enforcement. And allegedly mature language. #BannedBooksWeek #LetBooksBe #AllBooksMatter

Today was too productive, mental capacity has been depleted. Like and dislike days like this for good reasons. Nonetheless it makes certain things more rewarding and enables appreciation.

Index Librorum Prohibitorum by the Catholic Church. Never heard of it but provides a list of materials banned by the church. This is surprising because I went to a Catholic School 🤔. #BannedBooksWeek #LetBooksBe #AllBooksMatter

The Holy Bible and other sacred texts in schools and libraries. This is surprising because it is due to sexual and violent content. I’d have expected it to be out of respect for other religions. Odd but not odd. #BannedBooksWeek #LetBooksBe #AllBooksMatter

There are also quite a few solutions where there are constant and meaningful updates. Never seen so many app updates than I’ve been lately.

That #Persona tool LinkedIn uses comes to mind. It would be cool for Persona to integrate with different platform for a single verification pipeline vs various bank cards. That means nothing if I lose the bank card or my phone.

Downloading and installing the Gmail app because it’s incorrectly linked to an old Gmail account, should not prompt verification through one method.

FYI, there’s a large group of folks who have a strong dislike for hashtags.

TechinMama @addismama.com · 06/10/2026
Imagine the awareness and enlightenment a simple hashtag can introduce to some individuals.

The same way we want folks to be mindful of our triggers and traumas, we have to know when to extend the same courtesy. Sometimes, that courtesy won’t look in a way you’re familiar with. But you’ll absolutely see indicators of a triggered or traumatized person. That enough should be relatable.

And even then, folks who live a certain lifestyle can be the best person but be a target because of it. So putting them on display in toxic environments can often cause more harm than good. Definitely a side bar but I’ve worked next to colleagues like that.

Even by then, we’ve developed a better and more mature understanding of the body to participate in healthy discussion about it and relationships.

Sometimes we need to just focus on the education curriculum that aligns with the state’s mandantes standardized scores. At least until a certain grade. As we get older skills for healthy debate are definitely important.

The amount of ignorance they have to get exposed to. Some people’s opinions on things they don’t agree with are disturbing, even when I’m not the person on the other end. So I cannot imagine what a lack of a safe space could feel like for them.

TechinMama @addismama.com · 06/10/2026
And I don’t think we consider how it makes the person on the other end feel when attention is on them, and feel like they are being made a mockery of. Then wondering why mental health degradation happens. Not all folks can deal with or want to deal with that level of visibility just to increase

But because of the sensitivity in broader society, I’m not sure why folks would think some things are okay in the education system. I actually teach my child about these topics. Most parents do not. I do not wish for her to offend someone because she doesn’t understand.

TechinMama @addismama.com · 06/10/2026
Nevertheless introducing relationships that broader society has barely received themselves. What people do at home, behind closed doors, in their bedrooms has just never been a concern to me.

I believe that certain families uphold different lifestyles that we should respect and not introduce to children. It can be confusing if taught one thing at home then another at school. Most parents do not talk, at a quality level, to their children about body parts in the first place.
