The #RhôneGlacier will be able to die with dignity. The fabrics preserving just the 'tourist cave', leaching microplastics, have been removed and the family that claims to “own” it will no longer be able to drill tunnels into its mouth. I made this artwork, #Solastalgia, in the record melt of 2022

All over Europe we're seeing a profusion of (literally) "band-aid solutions" to global heating. What about seriously addressing the (manmade) causes instead?! (Snow insulated by fabrics to create an "artificial glacier", seen in Lapland this month)

For a 2nd year our film Sikoqqinngisaannassooq (“a future without sea ice?”) continues its adventures at festivals around the world, picking up prizes as it goes. (In 2027 I hope to find platforms on which to exhibit it globally.) Here're a few of the latest screenings you can catch: (in comments)

🚨 The 2025 European State of the Climate (ESOTC) was released today. There are absolutely beautiful data visualizations throughout this report, but they also reveal some very alarming statistics of climate trends and extremes. Check it out: doi.org/10.24381/zy9... #ESOTC2025 🧪⚒️🌊
Graphic showing trendss in climate indicators, where climate indicators show the long-term evolution of severeal key variables that are used to assess global and regional trends in a changing climate. These include sea surface temperature, ocean heat content, sea level, temperature, greenhouse gases, sea ice, glaciers, and ice sheets.

Simi, a hunter, shows two girls from Uummannaq Children's Home how to safely collect glacier ice pieces (nilat) from an iceberg for fresh water, a Greenlandic tradition. I’m here* teaching children to film their own documentary with 360º cameras, to watch in the same VR headsets they use for gaming

For weeks this had been my favourite iceberg in the fjord. I’d admired its stripes & imagined its 9/10ths below the waterline, hidden to all but the seals. It left silently after breakfast but came past to bid farewell. -41ºC with windchill today. I went down to the ice edge to watch it disappear.

Uummannaq (where I’m teaching Inuit children 360º filmmaking Feb-Mar) has an amazing outpost of El Sistema’s music program for youth-at-risk. It’s been 10 years since I played, but they just happened to find (possibly the world’s northernmost) #trombone. We've a concert on Monday should you pass by

To have the place you live threatened, priced & bid upon is terrifying as it is truly insulting. The people of #KalaallitNunaat should know the rest of the world stands with them: #Greenland is for Greenlanders. Here’s a bit of my #documentary on #SeaIce, In-Competition in #FIPADOC Biarritz 24 Jan.

#COP21 ... 10 years ago today! You can feel the optimism in this protest I filmed in Paris, December 2015: there & then our leaders, remarkably, agreed we'd aim for maximum 1.5ºC target for global heating. We recorded +1.55ºC in October 2025. Countries that open new oil & gas must be prosecuted.

Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, says UN inquiry
Commission’s 72-page legal analysis cites examples including scale of killings, aid blockages and forced displacement * Middle East crisis – live updates A UN commission of inquiry concluded on Tuesday that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza and that top Israeli officials including the prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had incited these acts. It cited examples of the scale of the killings, aid blockages, forced displacement and the destruction of a fertility clinic to back up its genocide finding, adding its voice to rights groups and others that have reached the same conclusion.
