I caught Rogue Trooper by @manmademoon.bsky.social at TIFF and wow, what a love letter to @2000ad.bsky.social… I liked seeing Gerry Finley-Day and @davegibbons90.bsky.social among the first names on screen, and the credits packed with real comic book panels. Afterwards we got a Paolo Rivera poster!

Wait, why did it take me 3 days to read Marvel Zombies: War Zone #1? This is brilliant! Tom Waltz has clearly been itching to write Punisher. And Fury! The Jaime Infante interiors are perfect, reminding me of Klaus Janson and Jorge Zaffino from the late 80s. So great. 🔥

I’m still processing the ideas underlying Marvel Dimensions by @alexrossart.bsky.social, but I love how conceptually bold and exciting it is. Like the other Marvel Arts books from @abramscomicarts.bsky.social, this one actually has something to say. And boy, it sure is beautiful…

I haven’t been following @gwillow.me books in a typical month, but this week I picked up two and they’re solid. Punisher’s meeting with Black Cat (concluding in BC #13) was fun. And the new crossover beginning in Batman: Bad Seeds - Sunset is off to an ominous start…

I'm really excited to be at Connecticut's @terrificon.bsky.social next weekend, Aug 7-9 at Mohegan Sun! This is my first U.S. show and I'll have plenty of copies of Mantle on hand — plus all the extra goodies I can fit into a suitcase! Can't wait to talk comics with as many readers as possible!!

I’m so glad I took a chance on What If… Kraven Survived His “Last Hunt”?The art by @yildiraycinar.bsky.social and @sinccolor.bsky.social feel of a piece with the original material, but most of all, this is @jmdematteis.bsky.social’s show. How about a Kraven miniseries from this team?

… and Mantle #1 and 2 are now at @strangeadventures.bsky.social, a lovely little shop on the Halifax waterfront, packed with a diverse selection of everything that’s great about comics. They had books I’d never physically seen in shops before! So concludes the brief Mantle Maritime Tour…

Mantle #1 and 2 are now available at Monster Comic Lounge in Halifax, Nova Scotia! This is a lovely 26-year-old shop, the kind filled with old goodies even they don’t know they have.

In I Hear A New World, the second in his five-book Long London series, Alan Moore has a lot more fun than his comic book fans might realize. This one taught me about the Krays, Joe Meek, and other bits of recent British history. The warm afterword by Moore was also a delight.

Savage Dragon #280! Is this the best cliffhanger since the last page of SD #9 in 1994?? Yes, @eriklarsen.bsky.social has written and drawn this book for 280 straight issues. It belongs on more readers’ pull lists! Support incredible achievements! (P.S. Angel’s looking more like her mom every day.)

I didn’t realize how much I missed Andrea Sorrentino, but his work on today’s Fantastic Four #13 is beautiful and unexpected. The story by @ryanqnorth is offbeat and clever, an interesting stew with the gravitas of the artwork. Happy Canada Day!

Somehow @christophcondon.bsky.social and Stefano Casell turned Reborn: Ultimate Impact #2 into one of the best Punisher comics in recent memory — just terrific-looking, badass-written Frank Castle. I enjoy the current Punisher book, but this team should be next in line for a run on the character!

What an issue! In New Gods #7, the foundation of Kirby’s Fourth World is revealed — massive ideas and cosmic conflict! AND, this 1972 comic book is quite clearly a stepping stone between 2001: A Space Odyssey (which Kirby would later revisit) and the George Lucas Star Wars films.

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 19/05/2026

I’m having a blast bingeing Jack Kirby’s Fourth World Saga, but little did I know Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen #139 and 141 included an appearance from… Don Rickles? Yep, he’s in the story — along with his doppelgänger, Goody Rickles — and Jack does a great job with the jokes!

000

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 13/05/2026

Is this my favorite take on the character? No. Am I tired of every story relitigating his origin? Yes. But The Punisher: One Last Kill is so well-executed, the definitive Bernthal hour. Happy to see Mike Baron, Klaus Janson, Garth Ennis, and Steve Dillon in the credits.

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 10/05/2026

Today I re-read the Geoff Johns and @1moregaryfrank.bsky.social story from Spider-Man / Superman. I’d been thinking about it since release day. There’s a lot packed into 8 pages, but the story — and, ultimately, Superman — left me with a hopefulness that I don’t often feel from superheroes lately.

021

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 21/04/2026

I just read the second issue of Alias: Red Band by @samhumphries.bsky.social and @geraldoborges.bsky.social and realized Jessica Jones has never had a bad series. This is great! The artwork is noir and expressive. The story’s both funny and incredibly dark. I’m all set for three more chapters.

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 12/04/2026

I’m bingeing late 90s Spidey runs that aren’t on digital. Unsurprisingly, @jmdematteis.bsky.social’s Spectacular Spider-Man with Luke Ross stands out. I just finished #”-1”, contrasting Flash Thompson’s childhood with Peter’s. 🥺 It’s a crime these stories aren’t more readily available.

Just finished reading Daredevil: Enemy of My Enemy by @alexsegura.com, a fun novel featuring the Punisher at the core of its story (which, to be honest, is why I read it). I enjoyed the book’s twists and turns and admired how Segura did justice to many characters from across Daredevil’s world.

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 22/03/2026

The first half of Sam Kieth’s The Maxx (scripted by William Messner-Loebs) was iconic, remembered as much for the MTV show as the comics. Alan Moore wrote a bridging issue before the narrative flipped into a calmer, sadder kind of strange. It’s all well worth a (re)read.

020

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 19/03/2026

My goodness, Ultimates #22 by @denizcamp.bsky.social and Juan Frigeri was an incredible issue, among the very best of the series. Heartbreaking confrontation between two best friends who’ve gone down opposite paths. Camp shows us how good men come to do such bad things.

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 15/03/2026

Over recent weeks I finally read @tomking.bsky.social’s Batman from the beginning. I know opinions vary, but I thoroughly enjoyed the big, bold swings that King and the artists (mostly @mikeljanin.bsky.social) sustained for 100+ comics. Brilliant. (Also, Lee Weeks is a genius.)

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 19/02/2026

Loved Chip Zdarsky’s Captain America #7 (w/ Delio Diaz & Frank Alpizar) and Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon #1 (w/ Luca Maresca) this week! I’m a sucker for important-feeling, slow-burn event-building, and this includes my fave @marvelcomicshqs.bsky.social toys and even ties to the Ultimate U!

How incredible that for $20 we can get a facsimile of this 1976 treasury by Gerry Conway, Ross Andru, and Dick Giordano, with assists by Neal Adams and John Romita. Textbook-perfect crossover. Luscious newsprint pages. I want to die with this book over my face, breathing it in…

@explodingarrow.bsky.social I got my copy of The Comics Courier #3 today! It feels great to hold some folded newsprint and, as you say in your intro, the contents really do cover a wide swath of comics both familiar and new to me. I look forward to reading this over coffee and breakfast.

To close out the day, I finally read my copy of Psychic Sam Vol. 1 by Mark Millar, @johnromita.bsky.social, and Klaus Janson. I had a blast with it — the type of violent vigilante justice book that fell out of fashion and is largely missing from today’s marketplace. Ready for Vol. 2!

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 01/01/2026

Ultimate Endgame #1 by @denizcamp.bsky.social, Jonas Scharf, and @terrydodsonart.bsky.social (a fave of mine!) is my first comic of 2026 and everything I hoped it would be. I’ve read the complaints, but how cool is it that the huge story begun in Ultimate Invasion will actually have an ending? 👍🏻

061

Adam Santangelo @adamsantangelocomics.com · 18/12/2025

Could Radioactive Spider-Man by Joe Kelly and Kev Walker be the darkest Spidey story ever told? This week’s finale is ultimately about euthanasia and whether Peter can make the decision for Aunt May! 😬 But also, Miles is called “Spin” for the first time in a mainline book…

Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger by @jimmypalmiotti.bsky.social and Tommaso Bianchi took me by surprise, expanding on the characters’ definitive confrontation in Welcome Back, Frank. Call me nostalgic, but this trip back to 2000 is my fave of the (all good) currently running Punisher books.
