Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 16/07/2026Doesn't this just prove that the court is partisan? If they're willing to expand executive authority for one party and not the other, to me that sounds like a crisis of legitimacy and should be rectified as necessary. 130
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 23/01/2026Unlike Kamala however, I think he will do a significantly better job of appearing moderate. As someone else mentioned, all that matters is optics. 000

Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 17/09/2025I think there were a few polls that said voters perceived Kamala as more liberal than they perceived Trump as conservative. To me this signals that voters didn't believe her when she tried to backtrack on her 2019 views. So she theoretically never should have held those views in the first place. 000
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 01/07/2025Given the current media ecosystem, the potential impacts that won’t hit until a few years down the road, and the fact that many people will simply forget about this bill between now and Nov 2026, I’m skeptical of anyone talking about “devastating consequences”. 050
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 27/06/2025And it's only going to get worse as more people move into fewer and fewer states. 000
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 11/06/2025Is there a world where if he does this, it actually hurts Republican turnout? Since Dems already have a major advantage with the most engaged voters who would likely try and show up regardless of threats. 120
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 05/06/2025I also wonder how much of this is "real". This is the same guy that claimed Covid would end by April 2020, and bought Twitter then proceeded to unban Trump. At the end of the day, he ultimately donated hundreds of millions to elect Trump Some Twitter drama doesn't erase all of that. 010

Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 03/06/2025I think the "evil" side originates from companies knowing full-well that their products contributed to climate change, and then choosing to cover up those findings. Exxon is a good example, they accurately predicted the effects of rising emissions back in the 70s and 80s only to mislead the public. 190

Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 14/03/2025I mean, if Repubs really wanted to shut down the government that badly, couldn’t they just…not even bring up this bill at all? Or even have tons of R’s vote no and shut it down anyway? The narrative in that situation would be different, but the outcome is the same. 170
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 14/03/2025Sorry Matt, but you know well sure that if Repubs were in this position, they'd shut down the government and they wouldn't be punished for it because voters forget about it within a month. Same thing happened in 2019. 1200
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 28/02/2025Average voters disapprove of both the agency layoffs and how Ukraine is being handled. Lean into both of those issues, especially target key agencies that are more salient with voters (cuts to cancer research, weather services, air travel etc.) 000
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 25/02/2025Well, the normies voted for whoever they thought would bring down inflation, which isn't an ideology but it is a position. The Dem base is definitely upset at the lack of leadership. Hard to say if the normies are as well. But I think most would agree that ditching the gerontocracy is a good thing. 100
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 25/02/2025I agree! But most voters view Democrats as more extreme than Republicans right now. You either have to convince them it's not true (hard to do because they don't follow elections as much as us), or meet the voters where they are ideologically. 200
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 25/02/2025lol I deleted my Twitter (why are you calling it X?), and this is the exact thing Lakshya is talking about. I'm a progressive, but I recognize that this purity strategy does not work. It's all about how the average voter perceives the parties. If you don't see this, I can't help you. 000
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 25/02/2025He touted overturning Roe but he also committed (and lied) to not signing an abortion ban. And again, abortion was not the big-ticket issue this cycle like we were hoping. It was inflation and immigration. So even he though overturning Roe is extreme, it wasn't salient with voters. 100
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 25/02/2025The fascism stuff doesn't resonate with swing voters because it's not salient with them. We view Trump as extremist and Biden/Kamala as "normal". The average voter views them the opposite. Polls show this over and over again. That doesn't mean it's true! But it's what the voters perceive. 100
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 25/02/2025The median voter (aka where swing voters lie on the partisan spectrum) doesn't follow campaigns like us. The average person didn't hear about Vance lying about immigrants eating cats in Ohio. All they cared about was low prices and less immigration. Trump did a better job selling this despite lying. 110
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 25/02/2025They viewed R's as more moderate on the things they care about most (inflation and immigration for this specific election). While Kamala had a centrist campaign, she couldn't shake off skepticism from both her more liberal 2019 campaign and the more liberal Biden years. 390
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 25/02/2025It's the most extreme version of the Repub party to people like us, but not to the median voter. Trump campaigned on moderating his stance on abortion, social security etc. Was he lying? Of course! But the median voter doesn't see that. 490
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 02/02/2025And a majority of people who voted chose Trump. You can say the quiet part out loud... 000
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 31/01/2025And yet because of the Senate, Dems will be likely scrambling for even 53 seats. 000
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 21/12/2024And for what it’s worth, I think it’s a bipartisan issue. People on both sides of the aisle say and believe things that have no basis in reality. I just wish more people like Yglesias talked about the very real urgency voters can have. 000
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 21/12/2024This can work in the short term, but I’m skeptical of how viable it will work long term. If our populace as a whole is unable to separate what is true and what feels good, where does that leave us? 100
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 21/12/2024This ignores the responsibility voters have to analytically deduce if the economy is actually better/worse than 5 years ago. Democrats wouldn't have to "sell" anything if voters were smart enough to recognize what is in front of their faces. 2140
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 12/12/2024I'm sure this bodes well for the future of the nation. /s 010
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 07/12/2024I think it's worth considering the possibility that many people have been duped as a result of this preference. 030
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 29/11/2024Long term goal should be to raise the average reading level though, right? 040
Adam Moss @adammoss.bsky.social · 26/11/2024I agree with Point B, but Point A doesn't excuse people from "you get what you voted for". If people aren't thinking about policy, the result is you elect people who won't fix the problem, or they make it worse. I guess the phrase becomes "you get what you don't understand", but the point remains. 2270
