Yes but look on the bright side, when all this goes pop we will be left with a billion burnt out GPUs and several thousand vibe coded personal calendar organisers.

Llm outputs are already given an indelible hallmark, it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to trace it back to the instigator

Don't be absurd.

"Regulating us and in fact even just holding us legally accountable for our many crimes, would hold back innovation" is the oldest trick in the book. We just have a generation of particularly gullible politicians

Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 19h
well then we need to tighten up the regulations and put measures in place to ensure we can reliably identify criminal perpetrators. None of this is particularly novel, its just basic criminal legislation and enforcement. We need to stop thinking LLMs are some other category, they're just software

An AI that cannot safely and accurately follow user instructions is dangerously unfit for public release, its designers are legally responsible, and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

and you can buy a gun from a bloke in the nightclub, it doesn't mean we should just give up
100
Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 19h
That's hardly a new problem though

Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 22h
The big AI vendors are clearly panicking about their liability towards facilitating criminal use cases, and are desperately trying to push this farcical line (via people like Alex) that LLMs are just magic and so they can't possibly be held responsible for what their software is used for

lol at the prices in the article. You'd have to be a finance bro to afford one

Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 22h
ok, so catch them, stop them, and prosecute them, and quite possibly prosecute the software providers too, for not building in sufficient safeguards against criminal use. Same as any other crime.

Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 22h
we do have a solution. disable and destroy the programme and prosecute the firms responsible, including significant jail time for executives
000
Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 22h
correct. claiming the computer programme you are using to do crime is just doing the crime of its own initiative is the flimsiest excuse ever invented, and yet somehow everyone is falling for it like absolute suckers

Guns in the hands of people do kill people, hence we restrict people's access to them.

That's not a glib response, it's a request for governments to wake tf up and ignore these moronic terminator 2 fairy stories about rogue ai agents and actually regulate the industry properly

This is why transport professionals mostly think in terms of expressways instead. A motorway is just a legal designation, not a measure of road capacity

If the construction sector is so flooded with demand that it's picking and choosing projects, which is what crowding out implies, you'd expect construction spending to be up over the past 12 months, and the subsector to be outperforming the s&p, right?

Yes, I think most people do it the wrong way round. Design and Write the bulk of the code yourself then get the llm to review and assist in debugging is much lower risk, but still provides substantial time savings

Still not net positive is not the same as no improvement. It could previously have been net negative!

Right but of course, they are *already* different technologies for exactly that reason. Claude cowork is a package of different software programmes and algorithms, only some of which could accurately be described as language models

I don't necessarily mean the product will improve, I mean companies will inevitably eventually figure out how to make better use of it.
100
Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Predictable but by no means inevitable, and unlikely to be permanent. Process innovation often lags behind technology adoption by a number of years

Windowless rooms are utterly miserable. Bathrooms especially need fresh air, ventilation, and natural light.

I'd love to see a detailed suggestion that didn't represent either a) a severe cut in allowance to those who need it the most or b) an enormous increase in the overall welfare budget. Personally I neither want nor need a state income, I just want free access to good quality public services.

how would it be different from regular unemployment or in-work benefits, pension, or carers allowance? would it be at a higher or lower level?

All very true. I really regret the decline of bbc 4: it did commission some good programmes, many of which were actually fronted by actual experts. Brian Cox, Mary Beard, Alice Roberts obvious examples of public intellectuals who are actually experts. Its a shame we don't have an economist version.

but that's literally what the most common and conventional meaning of "Zionism" implies, both in theory, and sadly, in 100 years of practice. So that *is* what this motion is attacking, quite literally.

Tbh I'm not sure you can decompose it like this. It's like asking which leg is better at walking. You need both!

Seeking to endlessly redefine a reasonably well understood word with a concrete real world manifestation to point to seems only like a tactic for obscuration and avoidance of critical debate
110
Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
But most of the principal Zionists did believe in that conception, and after they obtained power that was the version of Zionism that manifested in practice. and so the meaning of the word has coalesced around that particular definition, and so that's the version we're talking about.
000
Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
It is a definition, and I think the most commonly used one, it's the ones I believe the greens are using, and ultimately it does align with what happened in practice. Do you have an alternative definition?
110
Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Those things are not equivalent though, as one specifically prioritises the right to territory of one ethnic group above others, and the other, well, doesn't
110
Adam Brown @adamlbrown.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Maybe your definition of Zionism differs from the standard one, eg en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionism
en.wikipedia.org
Zionism - Wikipedia
