Whether Emma's from England or New England depends on which writer you ask. If you ask Scott Lobdell who wrote the beginning part of Generation X, he'd say New England. Though Claremont might back him up. Ask Grant Morrison and they'll say she's from the UK. Readers often side with Morrison.

Just watched the latest episode of #Ultraman Teo. And I'm realizing that I'm still not entirely sure why Ultraman Zero is so popular. I mean, I get that some people see him as the one who stepped up and stops Belial. But for me, Geed has kind replaced Zero as Belial's enemy.

Writers and artists put so much effort into beefing up or developing JL exclusive villains like Prof. Ivo or Despero only for most people to prefer they fight Luthor or stolen Fourth World villains. Same goes for possible JL-exclusive heroes, except J'onn J'onnz who fell into the role over time.

Matching Ultraman with Spidey and the Avengers felt a little off but understandable popularity and synergy-wise. Ultraman was always a better match for Superman. Or, because of the Ultra series sci-fi aspirations, might have fit even better with something like Doctor Who or Star Trek.

Ultraman's Marvel stuff came after Tsubaraya had been trying to push him in the US for a while. The Kamen Rider push still feels very new. Also, the match-up feels more fitting because KR was the "dark" toku series (not Garo dark, but still reasonably dark). [Cont]

The violence was also an issue. Heroes in Japanese kids shows get to fight foes directly. Characters in American action shows had to use "indirect violence" because parents' groups were afraid of kids imitating tv.

I forgot about Lucifer. There's also the fact that DC themselves keep pushing Constantine since he was absorbed from Vertigo. And I get it. He's the only magic character they have who had a years long series. But years of R-rated Hellblazer is a different audience than PG-13 Constantine.

Honestly, after close to a decade of urban fantasy TV shows (Buffy, Charmed, Supernatural, etc), Constantine didn't really seem all that special. He seems like something else in DC Comics, but he's very familiar on TV. They might have been better off going more superhero-y with Zatanna or somethin
