Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/01/2026I think that's fair and I also don't think it's what Abi was referring to in the original post tbf, you're saying please, plus your follow-up is still a question also! It's just the "I'll have X" with no follow-up I also feel is rude. But it's just a cultural language difference really. 010
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/01/2026There are a few legitimate reasons they might say no e.g. it's sold out, it contains certain allergens. The conversation for me usually just goes like: "What would you like?" "Can I have the X, please?" "Yep that's no problem!" "Great thank you!" Doesn't feel stilted and just feels polite! 120
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/01/2026Not sure if it's growing up in a UK school but hearing "I'll have Y" just makes me instinctively want to respond "oh you will, will you?" 2330
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/01/2026Feels more like the right are becoming more radically right (which is very concerning still) rather than people moving more to the right. 110
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/01/2026Hope to see a higher result for Greens in reality but still this would be a pretty positive result all in. Yes 18 Reform seats feels disgustingly high, but it's essentially just the people who already held those opinions and voted Tory last time. 150
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 26/01/2025Not gonny lie I'll never get the argument of getting angry at people that don't tip in the US cause "minimum wage is obscenely low". You know companies can pay more than minimum wage right? They choose the current system you guys have there cause it makes them more profit. 020
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 26/01/2025Gotta respect Amazon's lack of using an algorithm. You'll buy a curtain pole and it'll just recommend you 30 more curtain poles until you buy something that's not a curtain pole. No prediction, just raw recommendations. 011
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 21/01/2025We should have support systems in place for people who regret a bad decision. But most of us will make 1000 decisions in our lives we'll regret later, some of which could've done with the gatekeeping that transition gets. 0120
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 21/01/2025There's no excuse for trans healthcare to not be the same way outside of bigotry, absolutely none. "Oh that's different it's for health reasons" they'll say. Completely ignoring how transition can literally save the lives of people contemplating suicide due to the lack of transition. 2130
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 21/01/2025I just went for a consultation about my appendectomy. They laid out all the possible worst case scenarios, asked if I still wanted to go ahead with it, I said yes so they booked me in. That's an irreversible surgery, they can't just stick my appendix back in in a few months. 1151

Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 01/01/2025I just feel like you have to be a certain type of person to get into politics. How can you listen to stories of teenagers killing themselves because they didn't have access to a *non-permanent* medication and still think "yes, we should make it harder to get exactly that". 152
Reposted by Adam Gaffneytransmetalmum.bsky.social @transmetalmum.bsky.social · 11/12/2024Puberty blockers have been used safely since 1988 for trans kids. No issues. No one had concerns until GC's raised their ugly heads and decided it was best to eradicate trans people. It's never been about PB's, the agenda is purely and simply ensuring trans people and their healthcare doesn't exist. 71059359
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 01/12/2024Very funny to me and me alone that the joke Lonely Island song about how long it takes for the bass to drop, actually drops the bass about 2 minutes faster than the song Opus by Eric Prydz. Dude heard that song and said try me. 000
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 22/11/2024Liberals for some reason can't believe that transphobes actually mean what they say. They're so desperate to make excuses for them and give them the benefit of the doubt, but won't make a single step to do the same for trans people. 020
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 16/11/2024I hate that this is how I find how Jake Paul is actually younger than me. 000
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 16/11/2024People who weren't victim to it could just ignore it, and pass off comments as jokes because it didn't affect them. They're more annoyed they have to acknowledge it now than necessarily annoyed about the issue itself. 020

Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 14/11/2024I really like YouTube Music, but they gotta sort their auto mixes. Personally I wouldn't call it a "Deep Cuts" playlist if every song is in my top 50 listened of the last year. That's literally the opposite of a deep cut, that's a surface scratch. 100
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 14/11/2024I know logically that tweet only makes sense to me because Twitter got so big. But in my heart it still sounds more understandable than skeet, which is an insane word for a short thought. 010

Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 13/11/2024I would like to believe that most of the country would read things like this and not believe it, but honestly media literacy is at an all time low. The UK media (and to an extent government) will always follow the US, and then a good chunk of the population go with it. 000
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 13/11/2024I remember back in school doing Modern Studies, I was taught that tabloids like the style of reporting GB News does were always sensational, and the broadsheets were accurate. Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 28/06/2024Labour has some good people in there. Coincidentally also all the people who keep getting backbenched by the leadership. If Labour aren't actually going to give any meaningful change from the Tories, then sorry but I'm voting for someone that actually gives a shit, even if they'll likely not get in. 000
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 28/06/2024I hope Labour come in, tear apart all the terrible austerity and anti-LGBT policies the Tories implemented. However judging by their own words they're not gonna do that, so I'm genuinely asking. What's the difference between them? 100
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 28/06/2024Now let's be clear, I live in an SNP hold, and even if it switched it'd switch to Labour, so I'm not gonna knock out a Tory or anything. However the small parties stay small because people don't vote for them cause they think they won't win. It's a catch-22. 100
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 28/06/2024If people wanna tactical vote that's absolutely fine. However I dislike the false dilemma many people put on you because you don't want to do that. Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/02/2024Yeah, I feel like most databases have upgraded since those days, but I know for a fact (the bank manager showed me their system) that they still run on software developed in 1998. They'll need to have added salt and hashing, but I'd be surprised if they've done more. 100
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/02/2024This was a bit ranty, but given I've just spent like 2 weeks changing 700 passwords (not because they were duplicated, it's just been on my list to sure up all my security) you don't want to have to spend all that time in future. Easier if you sort it as you go. 000
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/02/2024But brute force isn't impossible and becomes easier as computers improve, so good to futureproof by making your passwords long and complex. It basically means that whilst companies might get breached, that just leaves you with 1 password to change, rather than 100 across all your accounts. 110
Adam Gaffney @adamgaffney.bsky.social · 18/02/2024As I mentioned, password dictionaries released online are the biggest danger to accounts. Many big password managers can scan these for you and let you know when an account needs changed. 100
