+1. But then, why not have the machines generate the machine code directly and eliminate the need for source code altogether? Btw. the "Java first" LLM-assisted approach works surprisingly well today.

Why agentic development needs stricter architecture and design: a deviation used to cost a senior engineer typing effort. An agent generates one for free and forgets it by the next feature. Architecture is decided once, design is generated per feature 👉 adambien.blog/roller/why_a... #airhacks #bce

The compiler error is also the cleanest localized feedback loop you can hand an agent. When javac rejects an argument mismatch in 200ms, the model gets an exact line and type signature to patch immediately instead of guessing through flaky integration tests.

Typesafe languages are obviously going to win out. I do believe the challenge is to find out which language provides best ratio between ambiguous understanding and token cost. I have a hunch modern Java and Kotlin will do well in that space. Worth investigating...🤔

Java verbosity is cheap. Ambiguity is expensive. A clarifying question from a coding agent costs a full round trip. A record, a sealed interface or a Bean Validation annotation costs a few tokens, and javac verifies it for free. Six points 👉 adambien.blog/roller/java_... #java #airhacks

Most context engineering goes into supplying the model with knowledge. For Java that is mostly wasted. The APIs stay stable, so training-time knowledge still applies. Start from a small working project, pick BCE, keep AGENTS to build commands. 👉 adambien.blog/roller/how_t... #airhacks #java
