Will her next policy be the reintroduction of Work Houses to remove the poor from our sight?

Let us not condemn the Fascist's Sweetheart with her finger on the pulse of the working classes after two shifts at McDonalds flipping burgers.

Mike Banenuff the best leader of the Conservatives we have had. She could fip a burger for England, a true working class hero, we talk about little else in the Flying Pig, particularly in the saloon bar where those with £1 million+ houses gather to discuss how expensive swimming pools have become.

Well said. We saw after the Covid funding the folly of allowing Limited Liability and money disappearing without any redress to the operators of these companies.

The fact it happened, was illegal and that the monarch didn't require the resignation of the PM shows that any checks and balances that we are sold as being in our system do not work.

that there was a good chance that a legal challenge could be successful.

Adam Bede @adambede.bsky.social · 9h
That is not the case. The HoS is advised by the PM and in that advise there is an underlying belief that the HoS will not be advised to do anything that is subject to legal challenge - being in favour or no is irrelevant. The Attorney General should have informed the HoS and all the Cabinet/

Adam Bede @adambede.bsky.social · 10h
/The HoS had a right to trust that her PM would not ask her to do an act that was illegal. A PM who deliberately misleads the HoS should be required to resign or face being sacked. We have to remember that the HoS representative sacked the PM of Australia in the 1970's so there is precedent.

The issue of Brexit is a side issue. The Head of State has a right not to be lied to. The Attorney General started to have doubts abouts the legality of what was proposed, but did not inform the Cabinet, only Johnson (according to Sheldon). Johnson had a duty to inform the HoS, but didn't./

It could be a scene from one of those 'kitchen sink' drama of the 50's - Room at the Top, This Sporting Life, A Kind of Loving.

Where has Robert's learning all gone? It seems to have been washed away and we are back to Robert pre-Robron. Sadie is terrible. Charity and Sarah's storyline just drags on Nicola has been excellent as has Gabby.

My question about Braverman is what will happen when Fareham and Waterlooville return to being Conservative, will she try to rejoin the party?

Yes, I watch Badenoch and have never seen such a poor leader of any political party with her congenital foot in mouth disease.

Poor Kemi, she would be so much better concentrating on what she is good at, computer hacking.

Poor Isabel Oakeshott, sitting in her Dubai home, will be furious that it isn't an Iranian ex-pat involved. My sympathy goes out to her.

I annoys me that Eurostar was never brought further north to, say cover Glasgow, Preston, Manchester and the north of the Home Counties before getting to Folkestone. Bypassing London and taking some of the congestion from passengers having to travel to St Pancras

Despite all that she is much better than the current leadership of the Conservative Party.🤣

I don't want them in the UK. However, by his actions Trump has signalled that any US base that is threatened will have its planes withdrawn ... what does that say to the rest of the world?

Indeed just before the pandemic rail passenger usage was an all time high despite the butchery of the Beeching network cuts. It shows that passengers like train travel.

/She was let down by Wilson when he went soft on In Place of Strife ... which probably resulted in the demise of the Callaghan Government and the election of Thatcher.

Adam Bede @adambede.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Whether you agreed with her or not, she was an incredible debater. Jim Callaghan was small-minded in removing her 'to make way for younger politicians' despite being older than her. She was an exceptional Transport Minister and at Health took on the vested interest of Consultants./

Ernest Marples and Beeching have a lot to answer for in moving passengers from rail to road transport. Later on Thatcher had no interest in anything but the private car.

Taking this to a conclusion, if the US military is threatened in any of its overseas locations will it withdraw?

I was camping on the campsite next to his farm. From early on the Saturday morning there was a stream of customers to his farm shop and by afternoon the overflow car park was full and customers were waiting 2 hours to get into his farm shop ... not the hard times many farmers experience.

Neville Chamberlain was Chancellor at the time and throughout the 1930's he made newreel films extolling the virtues of balancing the budget and going into surplus whilst workers were put on the scrapheap.

It is good to read the mixture of energy sources particularly solar and wind. At 11:00 I whilst we aren't using any stored electricity are we in surplus and storing for use later in the day?

Could be 1929, 39, 49, or 59 those streets hardly changed until they were demolished. No cars are parked on the street and the cobbled roads weren't a mass of pot holes as we have today.

I suspect if this happens he will not stand for re-election and use the martyr excuse 'They are all trying to get me'. With a by election from a recall petition (rather than Farage using resigning as he did last time) all the parties will challenge for the seat.

Adam Bede @adambede.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Poor Nigel, so much bad publicity, which will increase when the Commissioner gives judgement and refers the matter to the Standards Committee who will then debate penalties which will need endorsing by the whole of the House of Commons, then perhaps a suspension, a recall petition etc

Will the Tory faithful cheer that the cost of new builds could reduce by £50,000, or realise that it will also reduce the value of the houses currently on the market, placing some 'nearly new' builds into negative equity?

I am not sure what a 'classic old school' Conservative is, but in 1945 the population, after 6 years of war and rationing was healthier, than it had been in the hungry, means tested 1930's of Baldwin and Chamberlain.

I enjoyed the Victoria Wood dramatisation of the wartime portion of the diary. Mass Observation often gave the government some uneasy feedback. In particular some of the utterances of Churchill were not received well by the public at the time. Wasn't her name Nella, rather than Stella?
